Job Description

JOB GOAL:

To help students facilitate learning through the use of music and establish and maintaininstructional goals and objectives according to the Little Rock School Districts MusicDepartment.To establish maintain and reiteratively communicate clear behavior and learning expectations for all learners through active knowledge of and engagement with music. To consistently strive to improve performance in order to aid students in meeting learning targets and goals and to provide frequent and ongoing feedback to learners and stakeholders regarding their progress towards those goals to ensure that every learner experiences success at high levels.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This position is Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month contract (190 days) plus a benefits package.NOTE:Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based on experience and LRSDs salary placement guidelines.FLSA: EXEMPT.

TEACHER SALARY SCHEDULE

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A bachelors degree in music education masters degree preferred.
  2. Must have Arkansas certification in appropriate grade level (K-5) Music instruction.
  3. ESOL endorsement preferred.
  4. Evidence of piano and instrumental pedagogy and skills necessary for student instruction and performances.
  5. Evidence of skills in the area of classroom management.
  6. Evidence of strong interpersonal skills.
  7. Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.
  8. Submission of a 5-10 minute video demonstrating the learning experience in your classroom required.

Such alternatives and additions to the above qualifications may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.   1. Provides reasonable musical support for school-related activities (i.e. student performances assemblies recognitions) and collaborates to host student performances each semester.

To perform this job successfully the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty successfully. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Mental Functions Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk go up and down stairs operate foot and hand controls use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound near and far vision depth perception handling and working with educational materials and/or objects and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period and to be physically present and at assigned work with only infrequent unexcused absences during the contract year. Additional technical skills knowledge and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
