Introduction
BGC Regina (operated by BGC Saskatoon) is opening two 90 space centres located in downtown Regina. We are currently hiring two Pedagogical Leader(s) to co-manage the daily operations of the centre(s) with an anticipated start date of September 1 2025. This position is full time term position part of the BGC Regina leadership team and is eligible for the BGC Regina benefit package after a 3 month probationary period.
Our Early Learning Centre is staffed by a committed group of early childhood educators and is supported by an onsite management team and administration support. This position will work a 40 hour week (8 hour day) Monday to Friday. Shift start and end times are variable.
NOTE: All applicants must be eligible to work in Saskatchewan/Canada. Wage is negotiable based on experience and education and is eligible for the wage enhancement program from the Government of Saskatchewan dependent on early childhood educator certification status (wage range indicated above includes wage enhancement for a certified Level III early childhood educator - range will be reduced if ineligible for wage enhancement program).

Position Overview
The Pedagogical Leader position is full time (40 hours per week) and is a temporary contract position with a possibility of extension. The Pedagogical Leader is an onsite leader in the McIntyre Early Learning Centre (operated by BGC Saskatoon) and is responsible for the provision of a high-quality early learning program for children which implements the vision and principles of Play and Exploration: Early Learning Program Guide. The Pedagogical Leader supports the professional development and growth of the employees and requires expertise and skill in early learning principles and practice as well as adult learning in order to provide leadership to the organization and ensure positive outcomes for children.
Qualifications:
- Early Childhood Education Level II or III
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in the childcare field (leadership in childcare would be considered an asset)
- Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check (clear)
- Valid First Aid and CPR
- Proficient Computer Skills
- Play & Exploration Phase 1 and 2
- Valid Drivers License and Reliable Transportation

The Pedagogical Lead will:
Quality Assurance:
- Supervise and assist in the implementation of program planning for children which should follow developmentally appropriate practice (Play & Exploration) and BCG Regina Mission & Vision Statements Core Values and Model for Success
- Ensure the quality of the McIntyre ELC by adhering to Provincial Licensing Regulations Health & Fire Regulations and BGC Regina Policies and Procedures
- Role model leadership and display professionalism in all aspects of the position
- Build and support positive relationships and partnerships within the two ELCs ELC families and the greater community
- Support the professional development of staff and evaluate effectiveness
- Work in a team-based environment with the Business Administrator Director of Early Years Programs McIntyre ELC Staff and all other BGCS/BGCR staff.
- Provide leadership and support while supervising ELC staff students and volunteers
- Conduct annual program evaluations/assessments:
- Internal Child Assessments with Parents/Guardians Ages & Stages Questionnaires
- External ECERS (external evaluator and/or Director of Early Years Programs)
Communication:
- Ensure open & timely communication with the Business Administrator and the Director of Early Years Programs
- Communicate with program consultants from the Early Learning and Child Care Branch of the Ministry of Education and with consultants from the Saskatchewan Health Region.
- Maintain professional and open communications with parents and/or guardians and School Administrations
- Address questions and concerns from parents schools funders etc.
- Meet and work collaboratively with the Director of Early Years Programs and the Director of Operations to cultivate strategic thinking about program effectiveness
Administrative/Personnel:
- Interviewing and screening potential employees with the Business Administrator
- In consultation with the Director of Early Years Programs and Business Administrator hiring and terminating employees as necessary
- Assist Business Administrator with/as needed:
- Scheduling ELC and volunteers while ensuring proper staffing ratios
- Ensure staff payroll is prepared twice monthly
- Ensure personnel files are properly maintained and kept in a secured location
- Prepare reports as needed (i.e. Monthly to Director of Operations)
- Ensure proper distribution/preparation of all ELC documentation
- Along with the Business Administrator provide ELC Staff with an annual Performance Review. Provide all staff with ongoing feedback throughout the course of the year
- Mentor all staff in areas involving but not limited to:
- Programming (including environment design);
- Assessment
- Documentation of learning
- Communication
- Referrals
- Initial Approvals of Field Trips/Special Guests
- Assisting ECEs in finding and utilizing Content Specialists related to programming;
- Facilitating and seeking out professional development opportunities for ELC staff
- Directly supervising in partnership with the Business Administrator the Nutrition Specialist and menu development/nutrition programming
- Using Lilio software to document learning outcomes electronically
- Planning community and family engagement opportunities
- Report to the Director of Early Years Programs with a monthly report on operations of the ELC
- Assisting the Business Administrator in purchasing program supplies
