Job Description:
Under the direction of the ultrasound imaging manager and attending radiologist to provide professional diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound for the use and interpretation of ultrasound exams and procedures.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Ensures patient safety and provides mental and physical comfort to the patient while in the ultrasound department.
2. Performs ultrasound exams efficiently while maintaining diagnostic quality set forth in department procedure manual.
3. Demonstrates responsibility for patient satisfaction departmental dashboard indicators and joint commission standards.
4. Provides proper protection of the patient and clinic personnel in accordance with standards set by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers Food and Drug Administration infection control standards American College of Radiology (ACR) and department of radiology.
5. Aids the radiologists in advancing the field of ultrasound.
6. Demonstrates a responsible attitude toward continued professional growth.
7. Has knowledge of ultrasound machines PACS equipment and all other necessary equipment.
8. Maintains exam rooms and completes departmental tasks.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED required and license/certification listed below are required. One year of experience preferred. Required: Two types of certification/registration are acceptable: ARRT: Must be ARRT registered. Advanced certification in Sonography required within 12 months of hire. ARDMS: Must be registry eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Must obtain registration within 12 months of hire. CPR certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire. Preferred: ARDMS and RVT.
