Job Description
What We Are Looking For
Baylor University is seeking an Associate Director of Study Abroad within the Center for Global Engagement by enhancing the educational experience for all Baylor students through international opportunities. This position operates under the supervision of the Director of the Office of Study Abroad and is responsible for Leadership and Strategic Initiatives Program Management and Evaluation and Global Safety & Risk Management.
A Bachelors Degree and three years of relevant work experience in an advising capacity in a higher education setting with experience in study abroad and intercultural settings is required. A Masters Degree and five years of relevant work experience in international education specifically study abroad with management experience is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of one another.

Preferred Skills:
- Fluency in a language other than English
- Experience with Terra Dotta or a similar system
- Demonstrated record of sound judgment problem-solving and decision-making abilities as reflected in the ability to remain calm in crisis
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
Leadership and Strategic Initiatives
- Assume a leadership role overseeing a distinct unit in Study Abroad under the direction of the Director
- Lead a team within study abroad of up to two full-time staff members and up to 10 student workers
- When the Director is out or as needed the Associate Director will assume leadership responsibilities of the entire unit
- Leading aspects of the Strategic Plan
Program Management and Evaluation
- Evaluate program options based on Baylor curricular needs and health and safety considerations
- Organize and communicate opportunities to Baylor students faculty and staff
- Utilize the offices web-based study abroad management system and help maintain the Terra Dotta system
- Maintain data about Study Abroad programs and initiatives and create assessment plants in collaboration with the Director
Global Safety and Risk Management
- Coordinate the development and implementation of health safety security and risk management protocols for all study abroad programs together with the Director of Study Abroad and the Director of Global Safety and Research Security
- Collaborating closely with campus partners keeping Baylor ahead of industry standards ensuring legal compliance while empowering students faculty and staff through dynamic pre-departure training and crisis planning
Other Duties
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylors mission
- Ability to comply with university policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
