Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean the Program Coordinator II will primarily support recruitment and outreach activities (75%) for the College of Agriculture Food and Natural Resources while also providing support in mentoring student success programming and academic development (25%) for students. The Coordinator serves as a vital connection between prospective students current students faculty and staff to ensure both enrollment and retention efforts are successful.

The Program Coordinator II will be responsible for implementing compiling and analyzing communication from faculty and staff regarding CAHS students with difficulties specifically freshmen and sophomores and transfers.

This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans coordinates and participates in student recruitment activities and events on and off campus.

  • Collaborates with university and high school personnel to build students pipelines identify and engage potential students interested in agricultural programs.

  • Follows up with prospects more so with blue-chip recruits once admitted.

  • Represents CAFNR at college fairs community events and school visits to promote academic programs and experiential opportunities.

  • Coordinates communication with prospective students and families regarding admissions scholarships and program benefits.

  • Assists with marketing and promotional materials that highlight CAFNR degree programs career outcomes internships and hands-on learning.

  • Engages with parents during New Student Orientation to explain the value of internships co-ops and research experiences.

  • Tracks and prepares reports on outreach and recruitment efforts and outcomes.

  • Assists with coordinating early intervention and academic support strategies for at-risk students especially freshmen and sophomores.

  • Supports the implementation of student development workshops mentorship activities and summer bridge programs.

  • Helps facilitate research training sessions career readiness workshops and seminars related to graduate study and internship preparation.

  • Communicates regularly with CAFNR advisors faculty and compliance personnel to ensure alignment on student progress and needs.

  • Maintains student engagement records and supports data collection related to retention and academic performance.

  • Participates in college wide events.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Four years of experience in recruitment student advising outreach student support services or academic programming.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of word processing spreadsheet and database applications and presentation applications (PowerPoint).

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Agriculture Education Communications Student Affairs or related field.

  • Experience in a land-grant university setting or with USDA/NIFA programs.

  • Understanding of land-grant mission areas: research extension and teaching.

  • Awareness of USDA and 1890s programs like REEU 1890 Scholarships and internship pipelines.

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills utilized to provide exceptional customer service.

  • Ability to manage time independently in a fast-paced student-facing environment.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments (academics advising research extension) and build strong student relationships.

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.

  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgement.

  • Familiarity with college admissions and recruitment strategies

  • Skills in event planning coordination and follow-up reporting.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel locally or regionally for recruitment events and occasionally work evenings/weekends.
