Job Description

This is an anticipated grant funded position for the 2025-2026 school year. PURPOSE/GOAL: The Title I Literacy Coaches work closely with the K-7 Humanities Coordinator and district stakeholders to create and implement plans in which the district uses best practices in instruction assessment and tiered support in literacy. The coaches support the implementation of district practices in the Title 1 schools in the district. QUALIFICATIONS: Required Massachusetts teaching certificate/ licensureMasters degree in teaching/content area Minimum 5 years of teaching experience preferred K-2 classroom experience preferredStrong content knowledge in literacy Knowledge/ experience with Benchmark Phonics and EL Education Modules preferredProficient in the use of technology for teaching learning assessment and data analysis Strong understanding of the MTSS frameworkSkilled in recognizing teachers strengths abilities and challenges and able to support effective intervention strategies Highly developed knowledge of instructional methods and coaching techniques including curriculum design principles group and individual teaching strategies pedagogical best practices and assessment principles Effective interpersonal and communication skills Deep understanding of scientifically based reading research and evidence-based practicesTASKS / PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS: Collaborates with buildings to support the Title 1 process in regards to assessments data review progress monitoring and instructional decisions based on with educators based on observation of instruction examination of student work and review of assessment data and helps make connections to research-based effective practices to support Title I necessary trainings essential to increasing literacy improvement for Title I studentsCoach educators to develop new skills and strategies to improve effectiveness and student achievement in our Title I with educators in the design implementation scoring and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data to improve educational practice and student learning. Create a climate of trust and critical reflection in order to appropriately engage educators in challenging conversations about student learning. Keep current on best practices in education and use information and research about emerging education economic and social trends in planning and facilitating professional learning. Implement targeted and specific educator professional development opportunities to improve educator effectiveness and increase student learning and achievement. Support the Title I school assessment team and classroom teachers in the administration of school-based assessments analysis of data and use of data to inform instruction (e.g. grouping identifying students for supplemental instruction or intensive interventions).Attend district professional development and provide follow up support regarding next steps in shifting instructional other duties essential to improving literacy outcomes in Title I schools. Meet regularly with stakeholders to plan create and implement practices to support an effective MTSS framework including developing : As per the Billerica Public Schools teacher contract (the position is Title One funded; however the position is covered under the teacher contract)
