This is a part time position working within the 2nd floor of Meijer Heart Center Cardiovascular Recovery Unit. Past the point of the required orientation classes the role is 2 night shifts per week. It will not include Saturday or Sunday nights. Please read full summary and see schedule/orientation requirements listed below before applying.
The CVRU is a fast paced highly specialized 9-bed critical care unit located right next to the Meijer Heart Center ORs that is dedicated to providing world class recovery care of patients who have undergone all types of cardiac surgical procedures. Our nurses are fully ICU trained (including on IABPs PA catheters sheaths ventilators etc) and provide the complete recovery care needed for these patients until they are hemodynamically stable and ready to transfer to the progressive care unit or to the Cardiothoracic ICU if the critical care needs are anticipated to last greater than 24 hrs. Our nurses work very closely with the cardiac surgery team to make sure these complex patients receive everything they need to assure optimal outcomes.

Scope of work
Nurse Technicians act as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Responsibilities include Electronic charting in EPIC monitoring vitals checking blood sugars bed bathing ambulating wound care and dressing changes catheterization / catheter care and acting as a safety attendant for patients. Nurse Techs may also have tasks related to EKGs Changing over rooms/Cleaning post mortem care patient transport and floating to another department for the shift if directed to.
Orientation and Training
Orientation is mix of daytime classes followed by orientation in the CVRU to train with a preceptor. Past the point of the required orientation that will last several weeks the regular schedule is 2 Nights Shifts per week. It will not include Saturday or Sunday nights.
