POSITION DESCRIPTION As Strategic Growth & Sourcing Lead you will be a pivotal member of our innovative team directly responsible for identifying vetting and developing new business opportunities that drive immediate revenue growth and long-term strategic diversification. You will serve as the tip of the spear in discovering new products and markets conducting market and consumer analysis and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring new products and new brands to fruition. Your work will directly contribute to bringing new products and brands to market ensuring the launch and sustained success of innovative new ventures within the company with a primary focus on strategic sourcing and new market entry. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS
1. Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Development: - Lead Direct Sourcing Initiatives: Proactively identify research and engage with a high volume of potential new suppliers (expected to manage 10-15 active sourcing projects at any given time) for both existing and entirely new product categories.
- New Product & Pricing Intelligence: Independently gather comprehensive new product information including detailed technical specifications certifications lead times Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs) quality standards and competitive pricing.
- Initial Supplier Vetting: Conduct high-level screening and initial qualification of potential suppliers based on provided criteria filtering out unsuitable partners before deeper engagement.
- Negotiation & Communication: Facilitate initial price discussions and communicate technical improvements and quantity requirements to suppliers guided by feedback from internal stakeholders (NPD Brand Managers etc.).
- Collaboration with Thailand Sourcing Team: Coordinate and collaborate with the Thailand sourcing team providing strategic direction and leveraging their capabilities for efficient supplier evaluation and management.
2. New Market Entry Strategy & Due Diligence: - Champion New Market Identification: Proactively identify and assess opportunities in entirely new market segments (e.g. suppressors trail cameras outdoor recreational sports pet products camping products).
- Rapid Market Due Diligence: Conduct rapid in-depth market assessments (2-3 week deep dives) utilizing AI-powered tools and other research methodologies to quickly validate market attractiveness competitive landscape and potential for entry (fail fast-fail cheap approach).
- Comprehensive Market Analysis: Develop detailed market analysis reports for promising new markets including competitive analysis market sizing trend identification customer segmentation and SWOT analysis.
- Strategic Brand & Product Strategy Input: Leverage deep market and consumer insights to inform and recommend differentiated brand concepts product strategies and value propositions that align with new market opportunities.
- Target Customer Definition: Lead efforts to define and understand the target customer for these new offerings utilizing internal sales data external market data and direct consumer insights. They will need to effectively utilize internal teams that support data gathering.
- Business Plan & Financial Modeling: Develop comprehensive business plans and compelling pitch decks for validated new markets/brands (2-3 month phase) including proforma income statements and financial analysis. Assist in Monte Carlo simulations to evaluate NPV ROI and financial risks for new brands.
3. Opportunity Evaluation & Cross-Functional Collaboration: - Synthesize Insights: Review and synthesize new product opportunities identified through direct sourcing and market due diligence coordinating evaluation processes with brand managers product development teams and other key stakeholders.
- Validate Market Opportunities: Validate market opportunities through in-depth research and hypothesis-driven testing ensuring alignment with company strategic goals.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate closely with product development marketing sales and executive teams to ensure seamless integration of new ventures from concept to launch.
4. Continuous Learning & Development: - Stay abreast of industry trends emerging technologies and best practices in new venture development strategic sourcing and market analysis.
- Participate in professional development programs and industry events.
Perform additional duties as required to support the departments effective operation. QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelors degree in Business Marketing Economics Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- Proven experience in direct sourcing or new product/market development is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
- Excellent research writing and presentation skills with the ability to create compelling business cases and strategic documents.
- Proficiency in market research methodologies and tools.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple high-volume initiatives simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills capable of influencing stakeholders and negotiating with suppliers.
- A passion for innovation and a strong desire to contribute to the success of new ventures.
- Experience with lean startup methodologies or design thinking a plus.
- Proficiency in data visualization and analysis tools (e.g. Tableau Power BI) a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - While performing the duties of this job the employee may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. The employee may be required to bend twist reach push pull and operate office machinery and motor vehicles.

WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS The role primarily aligns with standard business hours; however flexibility is essential to accommodate varying schedules based on business demands. This may include evening weekend and holiday shifts as well as hours outside of typical departmental operations.
