Job Description

Senior Quality Engineer

Company:

The Boeing Company

Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join our Quality team located in Herndon VA.

The Quality Engineer (QE) will ensure that the programs adhere to Boeings requirements and provide quality interpretation. Primary duties will include:

  • Develops Quality metrics design and production certification plans for small programs to ensure compliance with contractual Company and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze non-conformance trends to evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Performs benchmarking and other forms of analysis to ensure specified process capability levels are achieved.
  • Participates in various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.

The QA Representative is also the primary interface for streamlining internal and external communication and driving visibility and ownership within the program /projects.

This position requires a Bachelors degree in one of the following relevant fields of study:

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads integration of contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation.
  • Provides interpretation of complex requirements.
  • Develops quality metrics design and production certification plans for large programs to ensure compliance with contractual Company and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops Quality criteria to support supplier selection activities.
  • Leads various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.
  • Develops and selects methods for analysis testing and audit to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.
  • Assists in development of new standards repairs for non-conformances.
  • Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Develops and implements corrective actions.
  • Performs benchmarking and other forms of advanced analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
  • Works under minimal direction.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim Pre-Start and final U.S. Top Secret/SCI w/Counter Intelligence (CI) Polygraph Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors or higher in one of relevant fields of study listed
  • 10 years of experience with quality systems (e.g. Boeing Quality Management System (BQMS) International Organization for Standardization (ISO9001) Aerospace Standard (AS9100)
  • Experience in leading or managing projects and teams
  • 5 years of experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCCA) and Corrective Action

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 years of experience performing quantitative or statistical analysis data collection preparation and interpretation
  • Aerospace experience
  • Software Quality experience
  • 1 year of experience performing audits

Travel:

This position may require up to 10% travel.
