High Point University is currently seeking a full-time Director of Wellness and Student Experience. The Director of Student Experience and Well-Being for the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy (FWSOP) leads the development implementation and evaluation of programs designed to enhance student well-being and overall experience. This position is responsible for fostering a culture that promotes physical emotional social and professional well-being while ensuring that student services align with institutional goals ACPE accreditation standards and best practices in student support and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development and Oversight
- Develop coordinate and oversee student well-being and engagement programs in collaboration with the FWSOP Faculty Staff and Student Well-Being Committee.
- Create and facilitate workshops on topics such as stress management school/work-life balance resilience and academic success.
- Ensure student support initiatives align with ACPE Standards and institutional goals.
- Manage administrative tasks related to student well-being including purchasing expense reimbursements and record-keeping.
Student Engagement and Event Coordination
- Oversee planning and execution of student engagement events including social well-being and professional development activities.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of major FWSOP events including:
- Orientation for new students
- White Coat Ceremony
- Pinning Ceremony
- Awards Ceremony
- Hooding Ceremony
- Other school-sanctioned events
Student Services Oversight
- Maintain and manage admissions requirements including immunization records background checks and drug screens.
- Serve as a connection to student services that liaise with HPU offices including:
- Financial Planning and Student Accounts
- Office of Counseling Services
- Office of Accessibility Resources and Services
- Student Health Services
- Office of Career and Professional Development
Student Advising and Leadership Development
- Serve as Co-advisor for the HPU Pre-Pharmacy Club.
- Serve as Co-advisor for the FWSOP Council of Students.
- Provide support for the Pharmacy Futures Program
- Support election processes for student government and leadership roles.
- Assist in developing and administering support programs for FWSOP students including:
- Collaboration with faculty advisors of student organizations
- Management of student travel to national and state meetings in collaboration with the Graduate Student Government Association (GSGA)
- Oversight of student government elections
Data and Assessment Management
- Conduct needs assessments and analyze data to evaluate student well-being and engagement initiatives.
- Develop metrics to assess and improve student support programs.
- Use findings to drive continuous improvement in student services.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Partner with university offices to enhance student services and well-being initiatives.
- Communicate wellness-related updates and initiatives to stakeholders via newsletters social media and other platforms in collaboration with the FWSOP Director of Outreach and Engagement.
- Organize and coordinate meetings including space and equipment arrangements.
Crisis Management and Quality Improvement:
- Develop response systems for student critical events related to student well-being ensuring immediate action and long-term improvement plans.
- Implement policies and practices to create a supportive and resilient student environment.
Education and Training:
- Masters degree in education counseling or a related field is required
- Experience in higher education student affairs administration counseling or a related educational program with at least one year of experience preferred.
- Experience in student service and/or event planning in higher education is strongly preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to research compile and analyze data to develop meaningful reports and recommendations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant computer platforms.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including public speaking and group presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students staff faculty and the public.
- Skilled in facilitating and modeling a quality customer service orientation.
- Ability to work effectively within an ethnically culturally and socially varied student population.
- Ability to work independently and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Strong organizational project management and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work independently take initiative and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
Work Environment:
- This position requires flexibility for occasional evenings and weekends to support student events and wellness initiatives.
- The role is primarily office-based with regular interaction across the FWSOP and university community.
