Job Description

Business Continuity Sr Risk Manager (FS)

As a Business Continuity Senior Risk Manager in the Financial Services Business Risk Office you will provide professional risk judgment that enables business partners to tackle major company challenges in operational this role not only will you lean into your analytical and problem solving skills by developing and deploying innovative solutions to mitigate business continuity risks to the Company but you will also grow your strategic and influencing skills as you create and implement resiliency strategies that enable the Company to win in the market. You will help create order and sense out of complexity and enable confident data-inspired decision making.

In this role you will thrive in a cross-functional and collaborative environment that values unique perspectives rewards innovation challenges the status quo and you will play a key role in maturing the Financial Services Business Continuity Program. As an integral member of the team you will have a high level of exposure across the division and partner closely with senior business and risk office leaders technology compliance legal and operational risk. The ideal candidate will be distinguished by excellent influence and communications skills a passion for delivering exceptional results a commitment to thought leadership and a history of using sound judgment and developing meaningful relationships across diverse business teams.

In your role you will:

  • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of Operational Resilience and Business Continuity standards and frameworks

  • Lead a team of high performing risk management professionals charged with completing business impact analysis quality review of business continuity plans and governance of the business continuity plan portfolio.

  • Lead comprehensive testing strategies for workforce workplace internal applications and third party applications and services

  • Work with enterprise stakeholders to continuously improve Crisis Management and Emergency Response plan development

  • Develop a deep understanding of business strategies products services and risk profile;

  • Identify and assess the impact of the changing regulatory environment on business objectives and risk appetite;

  • Analyze data to proactively identify risks and trends and provide insights that support internal customers in decision-making;

  • Support internal business resource planning by providing transparency to audit and regulatory engagements and commitments;

  • Provide guidance and advice to business partners on implementing risk policies and programs;

  • Drive collaboration between the risk compliance technology Enterprise Supplier Management and other business support functions (e.g. legal privacy);

  • Ensure independent escalation of risk management gaps issues and concerns including emerging risks and regulatory focus areas;

  • Identify opportunities to improve risk management practices and develop solutions to perfect risk management eliminate waste and deliver an exceptional customer experience

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma GED or equivalent certification

  • At least 5 years of experience in risk or compliance or audit

  • At least 5 years of experience in Business Continuity or Disaster Recovery or Technology Resilience

  • At least 3 years of experience working with internal business customers

  • At least 3 years of People Leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Masters Degree JD or MBA

  • 7 years of experience in risk or compliance or audit

  • 7 years of experience in Business Continuity or Disaster Recovery or Technology Resilience

  • 5 years of Project Management experience leading cross functional programs in Risk

  • 5 years of People Leadership experience

  • Industry certifications in Operational Risk Management

  • Industry certifications in Business Continuity (such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP))

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Plano TX: $155300 - $177200 for Sr. Risk Manager











Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidates offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
