Assistant Trade Development Manager (Import East & West Med)

Full Time Permanent

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Trade Development Manager on our Import Commercial department.

Alongside the Trade Development Manager the ideal candidate will be required to help developing and analysing the market maximising the opportunities for the trade. Ensuring synergies within the different parts of the business are found and maximised accordingly. Ensure excellent communication is maintained with other parts of the business and MSC Geneva. Day-to-day supervision of the department with an emphasis on leading motivating and developing the team. Manage your own workload and ensure that the team members are motivated always trained and engaged so that they always provide excellent service.

Skills and experience youll bring to us

  • The ability to act on your own initiative combined with the confidence to make sound fact-based decisions.
  • Ability to develop and maximise the skills and productivity of an individual and the team.
  • Ability to influence and implement change in the workplace.
  • Strong numerical skills with previous experience of reporting & compiling statistics.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft packages essential including Power BI Excel and Power Point.
  • Ability to generate individual commitment and ownership for tasks and functions.
  • Ability to remain calm and resilient under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate a professional manner at all levels of the business.
  • Demonstrable operational skills and in-depth understanding of the shipping industry required.
  • Proven management / supervisory experience advantageous.

How you will help us and what you can expect

  • Support the Trade Development Manager to maximise growth opportunities for the Trade.
  • Weekly Trade reporting and forecasting.
  • Build close relationships with clients destination agents and MSC Geneva Liners
  • Maintain a close working relationship with other parts of the business on behalf of the dept.
  • Assist with any reports statistics analysis and market research.
  • Assistance to strategically design future growth plans.
  • Proactively drive efficiency in the work task flow between trade team and rest of the Agency and GVA.
  • Organise and hold one-to-one meetings and team meetings.
  • Complete analysis of trade/intermodal/customer activities.
  • Drive data improvement and maintaining all databases.
  • Define & review individual performance contracts in conjunction with MSC standards.
  • Analysis of customer contributions in terms of TEU revenue and products and services utilised.
  • Identify and implement improvement and development.
  • Develop the skills knowledge and behaviours of team members.
  • Ensure training and competency plans are in place for each member of staff and monitor in line with
  • performance development reviews.
