A Brief OverviewResponsible to assist the Patient Access Pre-Arrival leadership to plan organize educate and implement projects related to the Pre-Arrival core operations which includes patient scheduling medical necessity review of physician orders and diagnosis pre-calling insurance verification authorization and financial counseling. The Coordinator has primary day-to-day responsibility of assuring workflow turnaround times are met daily tracking of workflow communication to the team staff scheduling coordination and special projects. The coordinator monitors productivity and quality and serves as a key liaison amongst the team.
What you will do
- Daily tracking of workflow functions and suggests/implements solutions that will reduce rework and increase efficiencies. Prioritizes workflow and staffing assignments. Maintains statistical information to ensure appropriate staff scheduling for optimum performance and quality of the Pre-Arrival Department.
- Acts as a resource and a role model for staff. Coordinates staff orientation and in services and ensure competencies are obtained. Provides feedback and data collection to assist leadership in completing performance review evaluations.
- Highly involved in workflow and performing Pre-Arrival functions in both the Centralized Scheduling and Insurance Review roles as applicable. Ensures up-to-date policy and procedures and assists in development of new policies and procedures.
- Create and maintain staff schedule with approval of Manager in accordance with budget.
- Responsible for creating and overseeing tasks milestones timelines and deliverable within a project.
- Works with all Hospital Ancillary Departments Clinics Providers and Payers to assure continuity of care and smooth flow throughout the Pre Arrival processes.
- Assures that Pre-Arrival Staff are completing financial clearance of patients through Insurance Verification Authorization and Financial Counseling/Pre Arrival Collections as outlined in the Avera Financial Clearance Policy.

Preferred Education License/Certification or Work Experience:
- Associates of science in a medical field.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Upon Hire or
- Licensed Practical Nurse (Multi) - South Dakota Board of Nursing Upon Hire
- 4-6 years Experience within a hospital medical office clinic hospital business operations and/or admitting department.
- Previous leadership experience
