Skilled Maintenance Worker - HVAC & Building Automation Systems Technician
District-wide
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical certification in HVAC BAS Electrical Engineering or related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC maintenance and BAS programming with demonstrated experience in energy management and smart building systems.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred).
- BAS platform certifications (e.g. Niagara Tridium Johnson Controls Siemens) preferred.
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
Performance Responsibilities:
- Install maintain and troubleshoot HVAC systems including chillers boilers air handlers VAVs and split systems.
- Program calibrate and maintain BAS components such as sensors actuators controllers and supervisory devices.
- Analyze and optimize control sequences using PID tuning logic flow and algorithmic adjustments to improve energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
- Perform re-tuning commissioning and re-commissioning of HVAC and BAS systems to restore or enhance operational performance.
- Monitor and adjust BAS programming to implement energy conservation measures (ECMs) and maintain IAQ standards.
- Apply knowledge of EPA Tools for Schools to support healthy indoor environments and proactively address IAQ concerns.
- Integrate and troubleshoot analog (010V 420mA) and binary (on/off dry contact) control signals.
- Collaborate with IT staff to ensure secure and reliable network communication including firewall configurations and encrypted protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system architecture programming logic maintenance logs and commissioning reports.
- Interpret and work from blueprints wiring diagrams schematics and sequences of operation.
- Respond to emergency HVAC/BAS issues.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes safety regulations and district policies.
- Assist with the installation maintenance and troubleshooting of CCTV and Door Access systems as needed.

Additional Requirements:
- Strong understanding of control theory PID loops and sequence of operations.
- Proficient in BAS programming languages graphical interface tools and energy analytics platforms.
- Familiarity with BACnet Modbus LonWorks and other building communication protocols.
- Competent in working with 480V three-phase systems and low-voltage control wiring.
- Knowledge of energy benchmarking trend analysis and fault detection diagnostics.
- Ability to interpret schematics network topologies and system documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a school environment.
- Experience with or willingness to learn CCTV and Door Access control systems.
Hourly Rate: $43.01
After Probationary Period Rate: $45.28
