Job Description
- Supervise cleaning treating and preparing seeds before sowing.
- Oversee the sowing of seeds in seedbeds and the filling of containers.
- Ensure seedlings are watered regularly and appropriately.
- Manage weeding and maintain cleanliness of the nursery workplace.
- Regularly inspect seedlings for signs of pests or diseases and take appropriate action.
- Supervise the pricking out of germinated seedlings into pots.
- Assist in tracking seedling numbers sowing dates pricking out dates and survival rates.
- Maintain basic logs of daily nursery activities as required.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Tree Nursery Supervisor.
- Promptly report any issues to the nursery supervisor for further action.
- Assist in seed procurement mother tree data collection and other seed source development activities.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year experience in nursery or agricultural work preferred.
- Ability to supervise and coordinate daily tasks.
- Attention to detail and good record-keeping skills.
- Basic understanding of plant health and pest management.
- Willingness to perform manual tasks and maintain a clean work environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A Certificate or Diploma in Agriculture Forestry or a related field is required.
