Job Description

The Communication Sciences & Disorders Department in the College of Health invites applications for part-time single term instructors to teach speech and hearing courses in our undergraduate and graduate programs.

The University is opening this posting for the purposes of establishing a pool of candidates from which to select part-time instructor candidates.

Throughout the academic year individuals may be contacted by the department to further discuss positions available on an as needed semester by semester basis.

Service as a part-time single term instructor does not accrue tenure rights. Part-time single term instructors serve by the mutual agreement expressed in each successive contract executed and are engaged to teach at the convenience of the university.

A part-time single term instructor shall not have teaching responsibilities exceeding nine credit hours per semester and no other responsibilities such as to accrue to full-time faculty.


Qualifications :

Except in rare cases where an exception can be justified on academic grounds a part-time single term instructor shall possess at least a masters degree or its equivalent (which may include appropriate licensure certificate etc.) in the field in which the faculty member is engaged to teach. Continuation of an appointees services during successive (not necessarily consecutive) academic terms requires satisfactory teaching evaluations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or EdD in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related area
  • Content Expertise in any the following area:
    • Phonology and Articulation (Speech Sound Disorders)
    • Diagnostic Methods
    • Neurogenic Communication Disorders
    • Dysphagia
    • Fluency Disorders
    • Advanced Language Disorders
    • Motor Speech Disorders
    • Behavioral Neurology
    • Augmentative and Alternative Communication
    • Fundamentals of Research and Design
    • Voice and Resonance Disorders
