Position Summary Under general supervision Antepartum Post-partum/Pediatric Nurses deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment planning intervention implementation and evaluation in accordance with established philosophy. Nurses collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Nurses effectively interact with patients significant others and family while maintaining the standard of professional nursing. The nature of the direction and supervision required for this position varies by State and job setting. Due to the broad range of medical conditions nurses will encounter they should be well-versed in a large variety of health conditions.
Essential Functions -Knows/conforms to the Texas Nursing Practice Act and the Boards rules and regulations as well as all Federal State or local laws rules or regulations. -Provide without discrimination nursing services regardless of age disability economic status gender national origin and race religion or health problems of the patients service. -Responsible for the total nursing care assessment planning implementation and evaluation of each assigned patient to unit guidelines designation and national mandates. -Providesage-appropriatecare. -Demonstrates knowledge and skill in the assessment and care of antepartum postpartum neonates pediatric and surgical patients -Accurately assesses and documents fetal heart rate tracings and contraction patterns. -Accurately assesses quantitative blood loss during postpartum period. -Assesses and intervenes appropriately based on patients coping abilities. -Provides clear information to providers regarding status of the patient. -Assures the plan is carried out and provided in a safe environment through performance and supervision of subordinate personnel. -Educates patients family or others to attain optimal health and continuity of care. -Performs audits to ensure patient safety and maternal care regulations as needed. -Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled. -Performs other duties as assigned. -Maintain composure during stressful situations. - Participates in unit specific quarterly education. -Provides mother-baby care as appropriate for census and staffing. -Advocate of family-centered care. -Provides bedside hand-off whenever transfer of care occurs. -Participates in unit Process Improvement project - Willingness to take unit call as needed assigned by Director. -Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Work Experience -Two years of Labor & Delivery Antepartum or Postpartum experience preferred.
-Education -Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in the State of Texas required. -BLS (Basic Life Support) upon hire date. -PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) within 90 days of hire date. -ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) within 90 days of hire date preferred. -AWHONN Fetal Monitoring preferred. -NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) within 90 days of hire date.
