Benefits Manager Summary: The Benefits Manager is responsible for overseeing the administration of all benefits and retirement programs including medical dental vision life insurance short- and long-term disability and 401(k) plan company-wide (3000 employees). Duties/ Responsibilities - Handles benefits inquiries and complaints to ensure equitable courteous resolution
- Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
- Assists with new-hire orientations.
- Oversee maintenance of records enrollment application and claims inquiries for all benefit plans.
- Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
- Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
- Enrolls employees with carriers and process life status changes.
- Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions benefits enrollments status changes and other general inquiries.
- Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical personal disability and FMLA.
- Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
- Assures company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act. Supervises preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies such as Internal Revenue Service Department of Labor insurance commissioners and other regulatory agencies. Reviews and analyzes changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and reports necessary or suggested changes to management. Develops benefit information and statistical and census data for actuaries insurance carriers and management
- Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment.
- Serves as a regular contact for staff internal customers brokers insurance vendors and/or third-party administrators
- Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
Required Skills/Abilities: - Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Maintaining records and preparing reports documents and insurance filings.
Education and Experience: Required: - Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.
- 3-5 years experience in Benefits Administration Management
