Who were looking for

The Credit Risk Review (CRR) department at Toyota Financial Savings Bank (TFSB) ensures that TFSB maintains its overall safety and soundness as a federally insured depository bank by providing an independent assessment of the asset quality of TFSBs loan portfolios and the governance around the acquisition and management of those assets. CRR reports to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and has a direct independent communication line to the Risk Committee of the Board.

CRR will provide independent assessments to meet all federal and state laws and regulations and provide periodic (quarterly) updates to the Risk Committee of the Board and to the respective Bank and parent company management committees. CRR will have strategic and tactical responsibilities specializing in credit risk management portfolio management and regulatory risk management ensuring the organization adheres to regulatory requirements and internal risk appetite levels across all lending products.

CRR will participate and engage in State and Federal regulatory examinations. These oversight agencies include the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and Nevada Financial Institutions as well as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

The CRR Specialist role will work closely with and support the CRR Executive discharge the above mandates of the CRR department. The CRR Specialist will drive credit review (loan review) engagements including execution of targeted reviews and testing to ensure control effectiveness.

What youll be doing

  • The CRR Specialist works closely with and supports the CRR Executive to ensure that TFSB maintains its overall safety and soundness as a federally insured depository bank.

  • Supports the vision strategy and execution for TFSBs annual Credit Risk Review plan to oversee TFSBs credit risk taking activities.

  • The CRR Specialist works closely with and supports the CRR Executive to complete an annual risk assessment of TFSBs loan portfolios (e.g. Mortgage Automotive) as well as operations (e.g. underwriting collections) to determine the annual Credit Risk Review plan and execute the plan within the fiscal year.

  • The CRR Specialist works closely and supports the CRR Executive provide TFSBs Senior Management and the Risk Committee of the Board with an independent and timely assessment of the following:

    • Pertinent reporting on asset quality as well as the overall quality of TFSBs loan portfolios (e.g. Mortgage Automotive).

    • Relevant trends that affect the collectability of the portfolios and highlight segments of the portfolio that are potential problem areas.

    • TFSBs management of credit risk including loan underwriting and booking as well as collections.

    • The adequacy TFSBs internal credit risk polices guidelines procedures and standards.

    • Evaluate activities of lending personnel including the quality of their loan approvals monitoring and risk assessments.

    • Identify loans with actual/potential weaknesses so that risk mitigation actions can be taken to strengthen TFSBs credit quality as well as minimize credit losses.

    • Analyze internal and external data understand trends and draw inferences.

    • Determine the sufficiency of TFSBs watchlist and workout strategies for impacted credits.

    • Assess the adequacy and adherence to internal credit policies and loan administration procedures and to monitor adherence to relevant laws and regulations.

    • Assess and if necessary adjust credit risk ratings especially loans with potential credit weaknesses that may jeopardize loan repayment.

  • Assist in determining the reasonableness of the ALLL.

What you bring

  • Bachelors degree in Finance Econometrics or Quantitative field (STEM).

  • 8 experience of credit risk management credit risk review and/or internal audit in a financial services or banking institution with a demonstrated record of success.

  • A proven track record leading comparable operations and programs within a financial services or banking institution.

  • Demonstrated ability in dealing with federal and state regulatory agencies.

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of credit risk management and compliance framework/guidelines.

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of all federal and state laws and regulatory guidance applicable to Banking institutions (e.g. Reg W Reg O Reg Z AML etc.).

  • Data extraction tools e.g. SQL Snowflake

  • Data analysis tools e.g. SAS Python

  • Data visualization tools e.g. Tableau QliKView MicroStrategy

Added bonus if you have

  • Advanced Degree; MS in Finance Econometrics or Quantitative fields (STEM)

  • Certification in data extraction and data analysis tools

  • People leadership experience in building managing and/or developing high-performing teams.

  • Experience building and leading a credit loan review program within a financial services or banking institution.
