The Assistant Buyer plays a key role within the Supply Chain team supporting the procurement and logistics processes that ensure the timely and efficient flow of goods into the business. Working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders the Assistant Buyer ensures accurate management of purchase orders and effective communication with suppliers.
This role is ideal for someone with enthusiasm attention to detail and a proactive mindset ready to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives.
Create and manage purchase orders within ERP system ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal procedures
Liaise with suppliers to secure order confirmations and ensure timely delivery of goods
Expedite orders where necessary to meet operational requirements
Coordinate with hauliers to arrange transportation of goods monitoring progress and resolving any issues
Generate and update key procurement and logistics KPIs
Manage and maintain the vendor database ensuring supplier data is accurate and up to date
Process import/export documentation in line with legal and operational requirements
Resolve Supplier Non Conformances relating to deliveries
Resolve invoice queries and discrepancies
Maintain open orders report: track chase and close outstanding orders and contribute to long-term solutions for recurring issues
Support the development and documentation of standard operating procedures and process flows Communicate effectively across the Supply Chain function wider business teams and external suppliers to ensure seamless order management
Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders to facilitate information sharing and problem solving
Provide cover for colleagues during periods of leave or absence
Support continuous improvement efforts across the procurement function and the wider Supply Chain team
Experience in a purchasing or procurement-related role
Knowledge of supply chain and logistics processes
Understanding of import/export documentation and procedures
Experience working in a manufacturing engineering or technical environment
Strong organisational and communication skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proactive approach to problem-solving
Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-changing environment
Competent in the use of ERP systems (preferably Pro-Alpha) and MS Office
