DescriptionWe are searching for a Bio-Medical Equipment Technician-- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position you will perform preventive maintenance and repair on the most complex and demanding medical equipment systems and networks. Involvement includes performance improvement design installation modification custom interfacing special projects and technical leadership.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs electrical safety inspections on equipment and accessories as outlined in the PM schedule.
- Uses the appropriate test equipment within the specified time period according to the schedule with no supervisory follow-up.
- Performs physical condition inspections operational checks overhauls and calibrations as outlined in the schedule with no supervisory follow-up.
- Uses advanced engineering technology skills to troubleshoot to the level that will provide the timeliest and cost-effective repair.
- Assumes autonomy in initiating repairs and verifying results.
- Schedules labor and materials needed for projects.
- Coordinates project timeline with Biomedical Engineering staff client departments and any contractors or subcontractors.
- Communicates and reports project progress and status to manager.
- Serves as mentor and provides leadership for fellow technicians.
- Provides on-the-job training and instruction in the latest engineering technologies.
- Properly utilizes tools computers test equipment telephones pagers workbench area and other departmental resources in accordance to departmental policies.
- Ensures proper usage and clean up of the Fabrication Shop break room locker room and other commons areas.
- Orders and stocks parts appropriately as needed.
- Identify equipment within technical area that has not had its PM procedure reviewed recently or equipment that is new to the Biomedical Engineering PM program.
- Review equipment manufacturers PM recommendations and requirements. Compare those to the Biomedical Engineering PM procedures and schedule. Update procedure and submit to Manager for implementation
- Documents all work and materials used in compliance with the departmental record keeping system daily achieving the departmental labor recovery target.
- Completes requisitions and other forms and returns documents appropriately as outlined in departmental policies.

Skills & Requirements
- Required H.S. Diploma or equivalent. Preferred bachelors degree in Electronics or Biomedical Engineering Technology or associate degree in Electronics or Biomedical Engineering Technology
- A bachelors degree in Electronics or Biomedical Engineering Technology may substitute for four (4) years of the experience requirement.
- An associates degree in Electronics or Biomedical Engineering Technology may substitute for two (2) years of the experience requirement.
- Relevant US Military Education may substitute for two (2) years of the experience requirement.
- 12 years experience in servicing Biomedical equipment in a hospital industrial or military setting. Other electronic equipment service experiences can be considered
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex medical equipment systems and networks and have some involvement in circuit design and research projects.
- Perform equipment inspections overhauls and calibrations.
- Demonstrate leadership and training skills.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with clinicians and be able to handle the planning of large-scale projects as well as ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must be able to provide leadership and mentoring for fellow technicians.
