Position Overview
This position will provide comprehensive supplier quality support to ProterrasManager Supplier Quality Sustainability and Regulatory Complianceas well as other leadership team members. You will be responsible for suppliers to ensure that products are delivered in accordance with established Quality Standards and customer specifications by providing support in areas of document and data collection monitoring improvement activities cross-functional communications and being part of the overall cost of quality and manufacturing cost improvement initiatives.
About the Role You will:
- Develop APQP plan with new and existing suppliers.
- Monitor and participate in Design reviews define safety and key characteristics Control Plan DFM DFMEA PFMEA Process flow Prototype development etc.
- Assess gages and tooling capacity constraints facilities resources and capabilities.
- Define review and drive AIAG level 3 PPAP requirements.
- Design reviews 1st article inspection packaging Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) etc.
- Coordinate Engineering Change Notifications and Orders (ECNs and ECOs)
- Evaluate potential suppliers and present risk assessments during sourcing committee and sourcing council reviews.
- Perform supplier audits and performance assessments in terms of PPM NCRs On-time delivery; identify risks challenges and back-up plans.
- Qualify new suppliers & sub-suppliers based on quality delivery sustainability and responsiveness metrics.
- Collect analyze and approve Carbon Footprint and Regulatory Compliance data associated with Supplier Component Level PPAP submittals.
- Ensure Proterra standards/drawing specifications are well understood by the supplier and be able to resolve any concerns promptly.
- Lead resolution of supplier non-conformances; track quality events product defects or quality-related issues leading to delivery failures; work with supplier on defect containment determination of root cause and implementation of robust corrective actions.
- Review supplier outgoing inspection reports and inspect critical to quality parts prior to shipping.
- Rank and prioritize suppliers for development; create Supplier Development Roadmap.
- Manage program initiatives and lead quality/process improvements including the following: scrap reductions/yield improvements variation reduction and capability improvements product reliability improvements operational mistake-proofing and value engineering and cost reduction projects.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to investigate and drive resolution for high-impact field failures; point of contact for India supplier rejections.

- This position will be based in Greer SC with frequent travel to Proterra Suppliers.
- You will report to the Manager Supplier Quality Sustainability and Compliance and collaborate with other Quality team members located at our headquarters in Burlingame CA and Battery manufacturing facility in Greer SC.

Your Experience Includes:
- 3 years experience within supplier quality engineering or related field
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience. Masters degree is a plus.
- Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) ISO and TS standards
- Extensive knowledge and experience with APQP/PPAP and in applying quality tools such as SPC 8D root-cause analysis etc.
- Experience in working with battery-related components (preferred).
- Broad range of tooling manufacturing process and workmanship standards with preferred experience in castings aluminum extrusions plastic injection molding and hardware.
- Experience working with Distributors Aluminum Plates Machining Spot Welding Adhesives and Hardware.
- Experience with best-in-class manufacturing practices (Lean Manufacturing visual management data collection material utilization employee engagement cross-training standard work gage R&R calibration etc.)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and SPC software (i.e. Minitab)
Location:Greer SC On Site (Not Remote Eligible)
Travel:30% as needed (ability to travel at short notice)
