Kinematics reference frames and relative motion. Newtons laws of motion forces and fields. Work and energy. Impulse and momentum. Systems of several particles and rigid bodies. Rotational dynamics. Oscillatory motion. A first course intended primarily for students in the physical sciences and engineering. A familiarity with vector algebra and some understanding of calculus is assumed. An additional problem class of one hour per week is offered with the course. Includes a 3 hour lab in alternate weeks. Previously PHY 1101 and half of PHY 1201. Must register toPHY1331if 4U or OAC Physics not completed.
