The primary responsibility of this position is to design implement and analyze scientific projects to enhance commercial swine population health & productivity focusing on Precision Swine Health and Productivity Management. The candidate is expected to have documented experience working with swine production and an understanding of disease management biosecurity use of production data and diagnostics. The candidate is expected to visit farms have contact with animals and perform sample collection. The candidate is expected to actively seek grant opportunities in applied veterinary epidemiology and be encouraged to pursue independent research. This position will be offered at 0.75 FTE (30 hours per week).
Ph.D. in veterinary epidemiology preventive veterinary medicine or a related field
documented experience with grant writing
documented experience with scholarship in the swine industry (i.e. swine-related peer reviewed papers oral presentations at conferences proceeding abstracts published)
professional and academic experience in the swine industry
