Included in this is:1. Understanding students the data collection and analysis 2. Working with classroom teachers special education teachers counselors psychologists and the administration to create environments that are supportive for all students 3. Analyze evaluate and collaborate through problem solving to ensure student success The Behavior Specialist provides leadership and direction at the school level working to design implement coordinate and evaluate a comprehensive behavior support program. In addition the Behavior Specialist works directly with identified students to help them adopt behaviors that will substantially increase their academic performance. Under the supervision of the building principal the Behavior Specialist will provide diversified strategies and activities specifically designed for targeted students and support teachers to create learning environments that are inclusive for all students. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES1. Collect and document information necessary on students with complex behavioral challenges2. Develop success plans for students and assist in their implementation including using appropriate resources and technology to promote development of critical thinking problem solving and pro-social behavior in students working with students in classrooms to reach goals and conduct ongoing follow-up assessment/evaluation/observation of progress on the behavior plans. 3. Collect data regarding student behaviors and recommend appropriate instructional modifications to develop responsible thinking and decision-making skills in students.4. Train both professional and support staff to implement success plans.5. Assist teachers in the identification and development of individualized behavior interventions intended to change behaviors7. Provide training for Staff 8. Participate as a member of educational teams to design implement and oversee behavior interventions within the classroom and school.9. Communicate with and engage parents in the implementation of behavioral interventions as appropriate.10. Work directly with students in classroom and/or other environments as necessary to model behavior intervention strategies for staff.11. Provide direct instruction to students in social skills and self regulation strategies. 12. Collaborate with administrators and teachers to create classroom social emotional learning activities.13.
