Job Description

Job Purpose

Coordinates the Targeted Approach to Better Health Outcomes grant through TSET by working directly with the HSOK School Health Manager and HSOK School Coordinators (located at up to 20 schools across the state). This position manages community-related partnerships. In addition the School Health Coordinator works directly with participating school sites to develop plans to improve student health outcomes. This is a two-year position located in Oklahoma City.

Grant Funded Position

This position is fully funded by TSET - and has a 3 year term - funded from July 2024 - June 2027. There is an estimated 2 years remaining in the funding allowing this position until June 2027.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Duty

Percent of Time

School Health:

  • Train schools in the School Health Index (SHI)
  • Review SHI and wellness policies to address needs and create action plans
  • Purchase and order equipment for schools
  • Meet with schools in-person/virtually to assess progress and provide on-going support
  • Travel as needed for school meetings trainings etc.
  • Report relevant school news for required TSET reports press releases and newsletter articles
  • Work with school sites to plan for the Healthy University events and attend all scheduled events.
  • Continuously check grant timeline to make sure the project is meeting its required goals and objectives
  • Carry out the coordination and planning of necessary physical education/health trainings for schools (Fitnessgram OPEN etc.). Promote events send out registration schedule food/drink if needed management of mileage reimbursement communicate with attendees about time parking attendance etc.
  • Continuously review school action plans and associated programming
  • Schedule triannual HFAC meetings with schools
  • Garner community support and invite community buy-in members to triannual meetings.
  • Assist with the coordination of program evaluation (data collection);
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of the Summer Health Institute and Mid-Year Coordinator Meeting

Assist in maintaining coordinator and resource directory; assist with the development of health and PE videos attend weekly staff meetings; attend monthly meeting with School Health Manager and PE and Health Coordinator and attend monthly Community Development meetings.

Qualifications

Education:

Undergraduate degree in physical education community health education or related field

Experience:

Must be computer literate and possess the ability to work independently with strong interpersonal organizational and communication skills. Previous grant management experience preferred.
