The University of Dayton School of Law invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions to begin August 16 2026. Areas of need include property intellectual property wills and trusts contracts secured transactions business organizations evidence and criminal law. The School of Law has a history of innovation. We have one of the first online JD programs several successful non-JD programs and fourteen law school partners around the world.

- J.D. from an Accredited U.S. law school or the equivalent from a foreign law school
- Potential to publish scholarly works.
- Interest and potential to teach in one or more of the following courses: property intellectual property wills and trusts contracts secured transactions business organizations evidence or criminal law.
While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
- Outstanding academic record;
- A record of original scholarship and potential to be an expert in ones field;
- Demonstrated potential to be an outstanding teacher;
- Potential to successfully mentor students from underrepresented groups;
- Demonstrated and successful experience working with people from socially and culturally diverse backgrounds;
- Prior experience in law practice preferably in one or more of our areas of need;
- Excellent written communication skills;
- Effective oral communication skills;
- Effective interpersonal skills with various constituencies;
- Interest in and/or experience teaching two or more of the following: property intellectual property wills and trusts contracts secured transactions business organizations evidence or criminal law;
- An expressed willingness and enthusiasm to teach in and develop UDSLs hybrid online J.D. program;
- Effective classroom management skills;
- Commitment to breadth of education including educating the whole person in the Marianist tradition of social justice and a commitment of service to the community university and profession.
