Financial and Corporate Services is seeking an Application and Infrastructure I to work as part of a team of IT experts to support and implement a wide range of emerging and established technologies. Your success will be determined by your ability to deliver tangible results hand-in-hand with a respectful and inclusive style.
This position will collaborate with multiple business areas support teams within the Open City and Technology (OCT) Branch and vendors to provide an effective integrated support model for these important systems. The Application and Infrastructure Analyst I will assist senior Application and Infrastructure Analyst IIs in defining coordinating and providing support to others as OCT streamlines the integration with external applications.
What will you do
- Collaborate with application owners and stakeholders to ensure solutions meet their needs
- Ensure stability and reliability of supported application environments for vendor and in-house developed applications. This includes providing 24x7 on-call support on a rotational basis.
- Coordinate with business clients vendor partners and other IT support groups to collaboratively identify and troubleshoot critical application issues and to deploy solutions
- Coordinate application support issues with vendors business workgroups OCT workgroups and team members
- Conduct monitoring analysis and reporting to ensure expected levels of service delivered to customers is achieved
- Evaluate software and hardware logs to identify troubleshoot and resolve potential and existing issues
- Monitor industry trends and software developments within the scope of application solutions in use of client business areas
- Prepare and maintain various formal and informal documentation like Technical Assessments Proposals Status Updates Service Support Summary Documents (SSSD) and Procedural Documents
- Degree in a related discipline and 1 year relevant experience OR
- Post secondary diploma in a related discipline and 2 years relevant experience OR
- 1 year related certificate and 4 years relevant experience
Assets:
- Automation experience and orchestration
- Experience in a public facing organization
- Familiarity with C# JavaScript VBScript Web API jQuery Bootstrap Web Services .NET Core Windows Forms HTML5 CSS and Azure
- Other technology specific certifications and diplomas related to the work
- Technical experience in a computing environment similar to the City of Edmonton
- Knowledge of City of Edmonton IT standards architectural processes and procedures
Skills required for success:
- Technical experience in supporting applications in a client-server environment as well as in systems analysis and design and troubleshooting multiple systems
- Experience in programming and developing applications preferably using the Microsoft technology stack with knowledge of related technologies and applications including:
- Microsoft SQL Server IIS 8.5 or higher SQL Server Management Studio SQL scripting and SQL Server Reporting Services proficiency is required
- Understanding of and ability to develop solutions within established processes data models and identified application design patterns
- Basic understanding of application security principles and the ability to execute established procedures and processes in this space
- Experience supporting vendor developed solutions
- Technical experience in complex hybrid computing environments including cloud and on-premise data applications and technology environments similar to those at the City of Edmonton
- Awareness of emerging technologies and ability to present ideas recommendations and proof of concepts to senior stakeholders
- Skillful in performing complex end-to-end system troubleshooting integration and solution delivery of new systems and technologies
- Ability to understand and use performance monitoring tools procedures and automated testing tools
- Ability to provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff
- Ability to perform troubleshooting solution delivery and maintenance of existing systems and complex solutions
- General knowledge and skills in a variety of technology(s) including knowledge of integration
- Well developed analytical and organizational skills with strong problem solving capabilities and a good understanding of business processes
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong focus on customer service
- Demonstrated ability in managing priorities and workloads consulting and executing work assignments simultaneously is essential
- Must be able to work and communicate with all levels of technical staff business users vendors and management
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders - as part of that be empathetic a good listener and adopt a team building and high performance attitude
- Ability to work under pressure in a team setting and with business and vendor personnel
- Be a self-learner who has the ability to identify knowledge gaps and develop approaches to fill those gaps
Work Environment:
- Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week
Salary ranges are in the process of being updated in accordance with the recently ratified collective agreement between the City and CSU 52 and will be forthcoming shortly.
Salary Range: $46.149 - $58.155 (Hourly); $81303.00 - $102454.57 (Annually)
