The Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) is an award-winning settlement agency that for more than fifty years has helped ensure that immigrants have a strong sense of belonging worth identity and are valued contributing members of the community. Together with our trusted community partners donors and volunteers ICA provides innovative solutions to the challenges faced by newcomers and services that range from mentoring immigrant entrepreneurs to clinical counselling supports ensuring that our community including immigrants thrive and prosper.

We are looking for a Settlement Client Navigator BCNSP/SAF HAVN to be the first point of contact navigate newcomer clients through the intake process at ICAs Welcome Centre. Provides core components of a new BC Newcomer Services Program (BCNSP) to support BC eligible clients (permit and study permit holders refugee claimants displaced peoples migrant workers as well as naturalized Canadian citizens). Supports with one-on-one support to individuals or family units as needed. Serves all individuals including BIPOC LGBTQ2 and Indigenous. BC Newcomer Services Coordinator.

What you will bring to the role:

Minimum Grade 12 Diploma (Undergraduate Degree preferred) in related discipline on settlement/resettlement-related themes family law immigration and refugee studies social work intercultural studies child and youth care or combination of education training and experience.

Direct experience with settlement/resettlement service delivery and case management.

Keen understanding of diversity issues to work with persons from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds on settlement/resettlement-related issues.

Two years work experience within social services not-for-profit and/or multicultural environment.

Proven ability to effectively navigate and utilize IT systems software and hardware to streamline workflows troubleshoot issues and enhance productivity backed by demonstrated experience or training.

Strong technical proficiency in leveraging workplace technology to improve efficiency collaborate with teams and adapt to emerging tools and methodologies to serve clients effectively and on time.

Essential skills:

o Internet research and navigation.

o Demonstrable use of MS Office products including Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint Teams SharePoint and any other productivity software that supports the automation of processes and workflows.

o Basic graphic design (create posters and social media posts).

o Social media management (understanding of Facebook Instagram LinkedIn Twitter)

o Basic project management and team communication tools (Google Drive MS Teams One Drive Zoom).

o Proficient with MS Office and database management (iCare CRM OCMS CARMIS).

o Understanding of best practices of cybersecurity for data protection phishing prevention and secure system use.

o Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence technology cloud computing and cybersecurity (ChatGPT).

o Problem-solving techniques.

Knowledge of community resources.

Experience working with immigrants and refugees and understanding immigration issues.

Proficiency in a settlement/resettlement language preferred an asset would be being able to speakPersian Spanish and/or Ukrainian.

Additional assets we value:

Contract duration: until March 31 2026

Compensation and hours: This position starts at $27.61 per hour Grid Level 3 Step 1 working a maximum of 35 hours per week and requires union membership.
