The Valet/Porter function is to courteously and efficiently meet and exceed customer expectations by providing assistance in the service lane reception area. He/she is responsible for moving customer vehicles to ensure smooth and efficient traffic flow through the facility and increase customer convenience and maintain an efficient service parking area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Install seat steering wheel floor protection and ID tags in all vehicles taken in for service
  • Ensure that all vehicles in the lot are locked
  • Maintain the parking lot in an organized efficient manner
  • Keep new and used vehicles lots neat and orderly
  • Move customer and dealership vehicles as directed
  • Maintain new and used vehicles appearance by cleaning interior and exterior of vehicles replenishing fluids and replacing batteries as needed
  • Operate overhead doors to assist customers and service employees
  • Remove the protective coverings and ID tags installed in the vehicle prior to returning the completed vehicle to the customer
  • Inspect the vehicle for stains debris and damages before returning the vehicle to the customer and report any damages to management immediately
  • Remain in the service write-up area unless performing another task as directed
  • Understand and comply with federal state and local regulations such as safety requirements hazardous waste disposal OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
  • Clean dealership areas (e.g. walkways and sidewalks) as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One year experience in an automobile retail environment
  • Must have valid in-state drivers license and have and maintain an acceptable safe driving record and safe driving habits in order to drive both customer vehicles and a demonstrator vehicle
  • Must be insurable
  • Ability to collaborate with the public sometimes with several customers at a time
  • Ability to collaborate with other dealership personnel
  • Must be a team player with impeccable honesty and integrity
  • Maintain a high level of professional personal appearance and conduct
  • Proficient knowledge of tools and materials needed to perform departmental duties ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction
