An assistant coach in the Fisk University Department of Athletics is expected to reflect and carry out the wishes of the head coach of the particular sport he/she works within as long as that vision or expectation is not in conflict with the policies procedures rules and regulations of the Department the University or any regulatory body to which the Universitys Athletics program subscribes.
Responsibilities may include team warm-ups scheduling strength and conditioning choreography spotting meet management individual conferences and all other areas associated with administering a collegiate gymnastics program. This position will also assist in all facets of the process to recruit athletically and academically qualified student-athletics. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Attend and work all home games matches and meets when oua re not competing. Attend staff admissions athletics conferences and institutional meetings/events when required. Knowledge and adherences to Fisk University Athletics Departmental Handbook. Gymnastic rules/regulations regarding recruiting eligibility competition and compliance. Promote and foster a positive learning experience for student-athletics. Othe duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to work nights and weekends. Assist in the organization and direction of all activities of the gymnastics team. Assist in the recruitment of prospective athletics to the University. Coach team members individually and in groups demonstrating techniques. Report to one broad area of specific responsibility as assigned. Assist with assessments of student athletics and determining areas of improvement. Assist with the development of content strategy. Assist with summer vamps and fundraising activities. Perform related departmental duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university is required.
Experience: A minimum of two years of Gymnastics training and coaching experience. Experience choreographing floor routines.
Licenses or Certificates: None required.
Additional Requirements: A background and/or credit check will be required of the successful applicant. An official transcript (if applicable) and names addresses and phone numbers of three (3) references will be required of the successful applicant.
