Job Description

Title: Literacy Coach (3 openings)Reports To:Principal or designeeLocation: Elementary Middle and High SchoolThis is a grant-funded position contingent upon continued funding through the Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant (4-year grant period).FSLA Status: ExemptGENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Literacy Coach(s) will support the implementation of Ohios Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant. The coach will guide educators in applying evidence-based literacy strategies aligned with Ohios Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement and the science of reading with a focus on improving literacy outcomes for all : Collaborate with school teams to implement evidence-based literacy practices aligned with the science of in the development and implementation of the Local Literacy Plan based on a comprehensive needs the integration of high-impact instructional strategies and interventions with moderate or strong levels of multi-level support through instructional coaching with an emphasis on disciplinary : Valid Ohio teaching license (K12 Reading Endorsement preferred)Minimum 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience in reading/language artsDemonstrated knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction and the science of readingExperience working with diverse student populations including students from low-income backgroundsOTHER PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience in instructional coaching or professional developmentMasters degree in Education Literacy Curriculum and Instruction or related fieldFamiliarity with Ohios Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement and current state literacy initiatives. Familiar with Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) curriculum and implementation strategiesProficient in administering and interpreting DIBELS assessmentsCompleted Orton-Gillingham training with a focus on structured literacy instructionKNOWLEDGE: Collaborate with school teams to implement evidence-based literacy practices aligned with the science of in the development and implementation of the Local Literacy Plan based on a comprehensive needs the integration of high-impact instructional strategies and interventions with moderate or strong levels of job-embedded coaching and professional development to teachers intervention specialists and instructional in designing and modeling differentiated literacy instruction to meet diverse learner needs including supporting teachers in implementing data-driven strategies across tiers of instruction through coaching and professional professional learning communities (PLCs) focused on literacy instruction and student workshops modeling co-teaching and reflective coaching conversations grounded in current literacy educators in using formative and summative assessment data to inform track childrens literacy outcomes in accordance with all applicable privacy laws and grant with leadership to monitor implementation fidelity and student progress over as a liaison between the school district leadership families and the Ohio Department of Education and family and community engagement to support literacy in documenting and sharing best practices successes and lessons : Interpret policies procedures and regulations; follow instructions; communicate effectively; maintain files and records; collect data; prepare required reports; accept and request assistance when situations warrant; work effectively with staff in prioritizing work; lift/move eighty (80) OPERATED: Electronic presentation equipment computersOTHER WORKING CONDITIONS:Works in and around crowdsHas contact with district personnelHas contact with children in classroomsAbility to travel between school sites if supporting multiple buildingsParticipation in required grant-related training and the Department-led coaching networkStrong communication collaboration and leadership skillsCommitment to continuous improvement and culturally responsive practicesTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:This is a full-time contract at the salary level established by Southern Ohio Educational Service EVALUATION:The Regional Early Literacy Specialist shall be evaluated in accordance with Southern Ohio Education Service Center : This is a grant-funded position contingent upon continued funding through the Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant (4-year grant period).Application Deadline: Until FilledAnticipated Start Date: August 2025Interested applicants should send a letter of interest resume at least three professional references and a copy of all credentials to:Casey Enochs Assistant SuperintendentSouthern Ohio Educational Service Center3321 Airborne Road Wilmington Ohio 45177Email: : ext. 1039
