Full timePosition Summary and Qualifications:
Under the direction of the Head Coach the Associate Head Coach/Instructor will be responsible for designing skill development programs for student-athletes and overseeing all aspects of the NCAA Division I mens lacrosse program. In the absence of the Head Coach the Associate Head Coach/Instructor will have the responsibility to act and function as the head coach.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (include but are not limited to)
Essential Duties
Teach coach mentor and inspire student athletes up through graduation.
Oversee and direct other assistants as well as volunteer coaches graduate assistants and student managers.
Attend all competitions and practices unless directed to other tasks by the head coach and is responsible for teaching student-athletes proper skills and skill development in their sport.
Provide instruction in physical health nutrition and safety.
Provide instruction in team concepts and sports etiquette.
Develop successful recruitment strategies; follow up on prospective students research and target high schools and athletic camps as sources for potential student-athletes and visit high schools and athletic camps to conduct student interviews.
Plan develop and teach well-organized classes and present other learning opportunities for students in accordance with departmental goals and objectives.
Prepare curriculum materials including course outlines syllabi and other instructional materials in keeping with departmental and college principles. Contribute as appropriate to program improvement and curricular development.
Maintain competency and academic currency in the subject matter of the faculty members discipline and in teaching skills through ongoing research and scholarly activity.
Be familiar with college assessment and placement procedures and effectively utilize campus resources.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Assume the duties of the Head Coach in his absence.
Develop and oversee off-season conditioning programs for the team. Determine individual and team strengths and develop strategies to maximize performance.
Scout opponents and develop scouting reports.
Provide advice and counsel to the Head Coach in disciplining student-athletes for infractions of rules regulations and policies.
Work with the Head Coach and administrators to stay within fiscal and budgetary guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Education/Training and Experience) Required:
Masters degree
Minimum of 5 years of coaching experience at a collegiate or professional level with a demonstrated record of effectiveness in coaching.
Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to NCAA and member conference rules and regulations.
Administrative skills such as prioritization organization and budgeting are needed.
Must be self-directed and motivated and be able to work independently and work under pressure.
A valid drivers license and ability to meet the standards of the Colleges current Motor Vehicle Policy are required.
Current CPR AED and First Aid certification must be maintained.
The successful candidate will be subject to pre-placement physical exam motor vehicle record check and criminal background check.
Understanding of and commitment to the mission of Saint Josephs University.

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
Position requires frequent evening and weekend hours. Also requires frequent travel.
