Job Summary:
This role involves performing all tasks related to the registration and pre-registration of outpatient and inpatient accounts ensuring efficient and accurate patient access to care. The Patient Registration Representative calculates and secures patient liability including copayments coinsurance and deductibles meeting the needs of patients physicians and the hospital.

Responsibilities:
- Registering and pre-registering outpatient and inpatient accounts.
- Calculating and securing patient financial liability (copayments coinsurance deductibles).
- Communicating effectively with staff patients guarantors insurance companies and physicians.
- Maintaining accurate records and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Utilizing computer systems for data entry and processing.
- Multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Troubleshooting and resolving registration issues.
- Traveling to off-site locations (outpatient only).
- Performing selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinating equipment/supply needs.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in English (speaking spelling reading and math skills).
- Strong computer skills (Word Excel navigating multiple screens).
- Ability to learn quickly and follow directions.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Understanding of insurance processes.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- HIPAA compliance knowledge.
- Typing skills of 45 wpm or higher.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and phone skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of experience in a high-volume healthcare facility or medical office setting.
- Drivers license (for travel to off-site locations).
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Bilingual (Spanish or Chinese Mandarin).
- Medical billing experience.
- LA City Fire Card (PHGSH only within 6 months of employment).
Special Considerations:
- Part-time position (25 hours/week).
- Shift: 5:00 AM - 10:00 AM five days a week no weekends.
- Orientation week schedule may differ.
- Flexibility is required.
- Must be able to provide a physical copy of HS Diploma or GED or Higher Education if requested.
- RTO requests must be submitted in advance and cannot be changed after submission (except to cancel). No RTO allowed during the first two weeks of employment.
Scheduling:
- Part-time 25 hours per week.
- Shift: 5:00 AM - 10:00 AM Monday-Friday.
- No weekend work.
