AECOM is actively seeking a Client Account Manager (CAM) to lead our Canadian Defence Account supporting strategic growth and long-term relationship development within Canadas federal defence sector. This is a high-visibility leadership role with influence across internal business lines and external client relationships driving collaboration strategy and pursuit excellence across AECOM Canada.
The successful candidate will report to the Canadian Federal Lead and work closely with Business Line Leaders (BLLs) across Canada. In addition the successful candidate will work closely with the Global Government Business Lines Director for Defence Accounts. The CAM will serve as the lead strategist relationship manager and opportunity champion for a defined portfolio of federal clients including the Department of National Defence (DND) Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) with potential links to U.S. Department of Defense (USDOD) collaboration under bi-national agreements.
Responsibilities
Lead development and execution of long-term strategic account plans based on market trends policy shifts capital program insights and AECOMs differentiators
Collaborate with Business Line Leaders to prioritize investment and resourcing based on client alignment program needs and growth potential
Analyze competitor positioning and small business partnerships to guide teaming strategies
Develop and manage an integrated multi-year account plan with clear goals KPIs and pipeline targets
Oversee pursuit identification go/no-go decisions capture planning and resource alignment across AECOM sectors
Foster senior-level client relationships with Defence and Federal stakeholders; regularly engage key influencers and decision-makers
Coordinate across geographies to ensure a seamless and strategic client experience
Maintain and manage an active pipeline of federal opportunities using Salesforce CRM
Ensure major pursuits have complete capture plans risk assessments and pricing strategies
Drive integration of technical compliance and pricing components in alignment with Government of Canada procurement regulations
Lead or support key proposals and submissions particularly for complex or strategic contracts
Monitor performance of AECOM teams delivering services under defence contracts including AE planning master planning environmental construction management and FMS/DCS support
Facilitate resolution of issues with Project Managers and clients ensuring a high level of service and compliance
Identify and manage potential conflicts of interest (OCI); act as point of escalation for deconfliction across teams
Inspire and lead internal teams across Business Lines to align on federal pursuits and priorities
Support professional development by encouraging federal staff to participate in external speaking engagements thought leadership and defence industry associations
Provide mentorship to early career professionals engaged in federal programs
Maintain oversight of performance against annual targets and report regularly to the Global Governments leadership team
Lead internal account reviews client debriefs and business line alignment sessions
Participate in internal AECOM compliance and governance forums joint ventures (JVs) and sector-specific reviews as needed
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree in engineering architecture planning or a related technical field
10 years of experience in the Canadian Defence market with a focus on the built environment and Infrastructure
At least 2years in a leadership and client-facing role
Demonstrated experience leading business development strategic planning and account management in the Defence marketplace
Proven ability to manage complex pursuits navigate government procurement frameworks and lead cross-functional teams
Experience building and sustaining client relationships at the executive level
Eligibility for federal security clearance is required; preference given to candidates with existing Reliability or Secret Clearance
Willingness to travel within Canada and occasionally internationally as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Ideally a Bachelors degree in engineering architecture planning or a related technical field
15 years of experience in the Canadian Defence market with a focus on the built environment and Infrastructure
Ideally 6 years leadership experience
Masters degree or post-graduate diploma in business public administration engineering management or a related discipline
Prior experience working with or managing accounts within Department of National Defence (DND) CAF PSPC or equivalent
Knowledge of Canadian defence programs including FMS/DCS MILCON infrastructure modernization and environmental services
Understanding of relevant federal procurement mechanisms (e.g. Task-Based Standing Offers Supply Arrangements ACAN MERX processes)
Salesforce CRM proficiency and experience managing complex pipeline portfolios
Bilingual (English/French) considered an asset
