Job Description

40 hours - Flexible Schedule

The ideal candidate would work with the Program Manager to ensure the wellbeing of person served. Full training will be provided along with multiple supports.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Collaborate with health care providers and persons served team members to develop and implement effective health care treatments and protocols. Encourage self-advocacy by persons served at appointments and engage individuals in developing their treatment plan.

  • Review medical records and physician orders to ensure program compliance updating information as needed.
  • Assist with interviewing hiring and supervising nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with the program manager to provide guidance for direct care and nursing staff including implementing recognition for staff achievements and the progressive disciplinary process.
  • Facilitate staff meetings and on-going program-specific medical trainings on diagnosis protocols safe care and other heath related topics.
  • Attend mandatory trainings and meetings. Disseminate training materials at the program level.
  • Provide 24 hour on-call on a rotating basis to ensure nursing coverage and optimal service delivery.


EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • CPR certification required
  • Must possess a valid drivers license in state of residence and satisfactory driving record

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years of nursing experience and prior supervisory experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the theories methods procedures and practices of nursing care.
  • Basic computer literacy including the ability to record data use electronic time and attendance software receive and sendemail is required.
  • Ability to lift transfer push/pull maneuver and reposition 25 pounds.
  • Ability to reach bend stand sit and walk; perform fine motor activities.
  • Work effectively in a moderate to occasionally loud work environment.

The Nurse Manager will case manage the health care needs of individuals provide training to staff and communicate health care information to funders and other stakeholders. at BAMSI our nurses are in a unique position to provide care for individuals served in their home in the community and with their friends. Our community-based group homes for adults with complex medical needs developmental disabilities acquired brain injury and/or mental illness are designed to support individuals in a large comfortable home setting. Persons served are encouraged to become active members of their communities including engaging in employment volunteer activities as well as social and recreational activities. Our homes house 3-8 individuals each providing an opportunity to build relationship with those that you care for and their families.
