Applied Science Manager, Amazon Search

We are seeking an Applied Science Manager for Search Navigation AI team who is not only deeply knowledgeable in the theoretical foundations of ML AI and LLMs but also skilled in leading and mentoring teams through the practical challenges of innovation. This leadership role demands a hands-on pragmatic approach to navigating complex scientific and engineering problems with a focus on delivering results. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven track record in guiding teams to develop deploy and enhance next-generation of search navigation experience including advanced applications of Neural Networks (NN) Deep Learning (DL) Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) LLMs and the rapidly evolving field of AI agents

In this role you will lead by example in conceptualizing building and launching ML and GenAI models that elevate our search capabilities and user experience. Youll be responsible for defining technical strategy overseeing project execution and mentoring team members in best practices across machine learning model development implementation and optimization. You will closely work with product teams and other partner teams to drive cross-organization projects and deliver results with significant business impact to customers.

- Masters degree in engineering technology computer science machine learning robotics operations research statistics mathematics or equivalent quantitative field
- 3 years of scientists or machine learning engineers management experience
- Knowledge of ML NLP Information Retrieval and Analytics

- Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application
- Experience building complex software systems especially involving deep learning machine learning and computer vision that have been successfully delivered to customers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $165500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $286000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
