Job Summary

The Director of CCL Residential Services plays a vital leadership role in the oversight and success of Home of Guiding Hands Community Care Licensed residential programs. This individual is responsible for the overall health safety and quality of life of the individuals supported across all CCL homes. The Director ensures strict adherence to Community Care Licensing (Title 22) internal policies and best practices in service delivery while fostering a culture of accountability compassion and excellence.

Reporting to the Vice President of Residential Services the Director LMAs (Leads Manages and holds Accountable) a team of Residential Administrators ensuring each home operates with a focus on dignity inclusion and person-centered care. In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations this position facilitates systems training for supervisors supports the Human Rights Committee ensures staff compliance with training and certification standards and manages the screening of client referrals and staff applicants.

This role requires a dynamic mission-driven leader with deep knowledge of residential services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who thrives in a collaborative environment and can navigate the complexities of staffing compliance and client care.

Tasks Duties and Responsibilities

  • LMA: Provide consistent leadership by leading managing and holding Residential Administrators accountable for program success team performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure full compliance with Community Care Licensing (Title 22) DDS standards and internal policies.
  • Oversee program implementation of Individual Program Plans (IPPs) using person-centered planning.
  • Manage client referral screening and intake processing coordinating with SDRC and other agencies.
  • Screen and support staff applicant processing in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Facilitate systems training and onboarding for Residential Supervisory staff ensuring consistency and competence.
  • Monitor and track staff compliance with mandatory certifications and training (e.g. Relias CPR/First Aid Medication Administration ProAct etc.).
  • Oversee and facilitate the Human Rights Committee process including documentation reporting and training.
  • Ensure timely response and follow-up for incidents licensing visits and audit recommendations.
  • Partner with families case managers and providers to ensure client advocacy and community integration.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergencies with professionalism and urgency.
  • Monitor budgets and resource allocation for assigned programs ensuring fiscal accountability.
  • Other duties as assigned.

About HGH

Home of Guiding Hands is a non-profit organization that was established in 1967 by a small group of dedicated and ambitious community members. The Mission of HGH is to improve the lives of those we serve. We support children and adults in San Diego and Imperial Counties with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as Down syndrome epilepsy autism and cerebral palsy. We provide a full continuum of care including residential care in specialized group homes independent living support respite care and adult foster home services. Additionally we provide early childhood assessments and services tailored day support Life Planning workshops county-wide transportation services and on-site activities at our resource center.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Education

  • Bachelors degree in Human Services Social Work Psychology or related field (Masters preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in IDD residential services including 3 years in a leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of Community Care Licensing (Title 22) and quality standards for residential care.
  • Demonstrated ability to LMA: lead manage and hold teams accountable.
  • Strong organizational communication and crisis management skills.
  • Valid CA drivers license and acceptable driving record.
  • Valid CA drivers license and acceptable driving record. Must have 2 years of licensed driving experience.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid certification Pro-Act and Medication Administration.
  • Must complete a pre-employment physical and negative Tuberculosis screen then update annually

    Physical Requirements/Work Environment

    This job operates in a residential home environment. The employee is frequently required to stand walk and sit. The employee may frequently move to interact with fellow employees and/or clients. Additionally the individual may be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific abilities required by this job include utilizing wheelchairs gait belts Hoyer lifts and using the buddy system to lift over 50 pounds.
