Job Description
Applications are now being accepted for Substitute Teachers for the 2025-2026 School year.
Cape Fear Academy is a learning community committed to discovering and developing individual potential preparing each student for success in college and life.
Located in Wilmington NC Cape Fear Academy is southeastern North Carolinas premier PK3-12 independent school. A learning community of nearly 800 students and 144 faculty and staff members CFA is guided by the mission of discovering and developing individual potential. To accomplish this goal CFA offers students an impressive array of opportunities in academics the visual and performing arts and athletics. Our 47-acre campus has state-of-the-art facilities that provide a rich and inspiring physical environment for students to explore and develop their passions. Teachers at Cape Fear Academy deliver high quality instruction that emphasizes critical thinking written and oral communication and collaboration in a technology-rich environment. CFAs academic curriculum establishes clear coordinated goals for each course and grade level while still allowing teachers the freedom to be creative and innovative in their instructional choices. Academic departments foster collaborative decisions about curriculum materials and departmental goals. Substitute Teachers Lower School Middle School or Upper School
Major Responsibilities:
- Implement and teach lesson plans and instructions as directed by the absent teacher or consult with Division Director or other responsible staff if a lesson plan is not provided
- Maintain a clean respectful and orderly classroom and follow classroom and school procedures as directed by the school.
- Leave notes for the regular teacher at the end of the teaching day.
- Communicate with parents students and administrators in a friendly and positive manner.
- Keep records on attendance accidents and incidents.
- Protect students equipment materials and facilities.
- Ensure the safety of students at all times.
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- The teacher should be passionate with experience and knowledge in lower middle or upper school subjects and age-appropriate expectations.
- Strong communication skills.
Education: Bachelors degree in education or related field preferred.
Experience: One or more years teaching experience in lower middle or upper school subjects. Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience may be considered in place of the above requirements.
