Deputy Attorneys General with critical support from criminal special investigators victim service specialists paraprofessionals and administrative staff prosecute criminal cases enforce consumer laws provide counsel to state agencies ensure the publics access to open government protect the abused and much more.
The Delaware Department of Justice is seeking to fill the position of Legal Administrative Specialist within the Homicide Unit of the Criminal Division. This position is in New Castle County.
This Legal Administrative Specialist provides administrative/clerical support as needed to Deputy Attorneys General in the Criminal Division Homicide Unit in New Castle County. This Legal Administrative Specialist assists the Deputy Attorneys General in their cases where they are investigating prepping and trying the majority of all homicide cases in New Castle County. This Legal Administrative Specialist maintains spreadsheets for all homicides in New Castle Kent and Sussex Counties. Maintains and manages the NCC homicide cell phone rotation schedule. Also prepares the homicide assignment memos which include the call-out memo and any media reports of the incidents. Tracks the general trial experience of Deputy Attorneys General to determine eligibility for homicide assignments. Coordinates and schedules weekly meeting for the Homicide Unit in New Castle County as well as Kent and Sussex Counties when needed and distributes materials to all the attendees. Assists in trial preparation by copying and sending CDs of witness statements from transcription assists in producing and providing discovery materials to defense counsel as requested in addition to gathering statistics of incoming homicide cases for New Castle County. Drafts Grand Jury indictments and Rule 9 warrant letters in addition to drafting motions discovery letters and other legal documents as needed in support of the Deputy Attorneys General with their trials. Participates in the rotation schedule of the main Criminal Division New Castle County Receptionist telephones.
