Job Description

The Radiology Department at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an innovative physician leader who will provide administrative leadership and clinical oversight for the clinical affairs of Radiology at Clements University Hospital and its affiliated clinics. This faculty position will be appointed as the Chief Radiology Officer (CRO) directly reporting to the Vice Chair of Clinical Operations and the organizations Chief of Operations. As such this individual will act in alignment with the Vice Chairs priorities and interests consistent with the mission vision and values of the Department of Radiology and will support facilitate and participate in the organizations clinical and administrative activities to achieve the service areas expected goals and objectives.

The CRO serves as a key physician administrator acting as the Departments liaison to the organizations clinical and administrative leadership in order to ensure high-quality timely safe appropriate and compliant patient-centered and patient-valued services while facilitating adequate patient access to radiology exams and image-guided interventions and attaining AAARAD RVU benchmarks developed annually with the Chair of Radiology. Additionally the CRO serves as leader and manager to all medical staff in the service area providing medical expertise and supporting the Departments continuing recruitment efforts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serves as the designated leader in the area of service and actively works to prevent disparity in patient care.

Develops revises and monitors annual goals and objectives of the service area of responsibility in collaboration with the organizations Chief Clinical Officer as well as with other organization and UTSW leadership as appropriate. Develops and implements an effective communication strategy with credentialed medical professionals in the area of service. Serves as primary liaison with the program director in the area of service and is responsible for departmental trainee professionalism and care delivery at the hospital.

In conjunction with clinical and administrative leadership promotes and facilitates the implementation of the organizations strategic initiatives.

Accountable for facilitating the development incorporation and implementation of evidence-based clinical processes/pathways and value-driven best-practice guidelines to enhance quality patient-centered and patient-valued services as well as to maximize clinic efficiency capacity and provider productivity in the service area of responsibility.
Serves as an example of professional conduct and behavior as stated in the organizations Code of Conduct & Ethics. Works collaboratively with the organizations Chief Clinical Officer and Medical Affairs leadership to ensure compliance and accountability on matters related to professional standards behavior and conduct of medical staff in the service area of responsibility.

Works collaboratively with the organizations Chief Clinical Officer Medical Affairs leadership as well as other UTSW leaders at the organization to determine service needs and optimize the educational environment for trainees.

Works collaboratively with relevant individuals in medical provider credentialing privileging peer review and regulatory matters.

In collaboration with UTSW leadership reviews and monitors productivity clinical quality utilization management patient safety and patient satisfaction data; and facilitates the implementation of action plans and performance improvement projects if necessary.

In collaboration with the organizations leadership assists with evaluating and prioritizing operational budget capital requests and new service/program requests of the service area of responsibility.

Serves and participates on division/organization-wide committees quality improvement and patient safety activities to ensure discipline representation/participation of area(s) of responsibility. Promotes and supports interdepartmental collaboration and integration as well as positive working relationships.

Collaborates with the appropriate department to develop quality and safety standards that align with the goals of the organization. Makes presentations to relevant committees in accordance with organization leadership expectations.

Maintains knowledge of and complies with all applicable rules regulations policies procedures and guidelines of the organization as well as of federal state and local accrediting/regulatory agencies. In conjunction with the organizations leadership assists with developing effective internal controls to promote adherence of all the above in service area(s) of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications
Full-time faculty member in the Department of Radiology
Active member of the organizations medical staff
Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology with an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Texas
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or foreign equivalent
Fellowship training or equivalent experience
Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire mentor and lead
Experience in continuous quality improvement
Demonstrated ability to lead teams creatively and synergistically
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations
Demonstrated ethical conduct professionalism interpersonal skills organizational skills and management abilities to effectively direct and develop trainees and support staff

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215 which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information. To the extent this position requires the holder to research work on or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishment and experience. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule.
