  • Our School- St. Benedict Catholic School is a Preschool Grade 8 Catholic school located in North Seattle just south of Greenlake. It is our goal to educate the whole child providing high quality academic instruction in the context of a loving and vibrant Catholic community. As our mission states:

    St Benedict Catholic School nurtures the individual fosters intellectual curiosity encourages spiritual and personal growth supports loving relationships and promotes caring service to the community.

    The school is unique to North Seattle because of its enrollment (currently 200students) low class sizes (18 student average) and diverse population. The school currently employs 13 classroom teachers 8 specialist teachers and 4 instructional aides.

    The Position:St. Benedict Catholic School in Seattle is seeking a creative organized and student-centered Director for our annual Spring Musical. This individual will be responsible for all aspects of the production process from auditions through rehearsals to the final performance and set strike. The ideal candidate has experience working with school-aged students (grades 58) and is passionate about fostering a love of musical theater in young performers. The new director will be supported by a teacher/assistant director who is currently employed by the school.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Select an age-appropriate musical in collaboration with school leadership (if not already selected)
    • Establish and execute the creative vision for the production
    • Plan coordinate and lead auditions
    • Direct rehearsals typically held on weekday evenings
    • Provide instruction in acting singing and basic movement/stage presence
    • Work collaboratively with school staff and parent volunteers on costumes sets props lighting and sound
    • Communicate clearly and regularly with students families and administration about rehearsal schedules expectations and performance details
    • Create an inclusive and supportive environment where all students feel welcome to participate and grow
    • Oversee the strike of the set and cleanup after the final performance
    Qualifications:
    • Experience directing or teaching theater to students in grades 58
    • Strong leadership organizational and communication skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively with students families faculty and volunteers
    • Availability for evening rehearsals and all scheduled performances (typically MarchMay)
    • Background in theater performance directing or musical education preferred
    • Experience working in a Catholic or faith-based school community is a plus but not required
    Time Commitment:
    • Pre-production planning: JanuaryFebruary
    • Rehearsals and production: MarchMay (23 weekday evenings per week)
    • Final performances: typically late April or early May
    • Set strike: Immediately following the final performance
    Compensation:
    A competitive stipend will bedetermined based on internal equity internal salary ranges market data applicants skills and prior relevant experience degrees and certifications.
    A typical range for this position is between $8500 - $12000.
    This position is not benefits eligible.
