Hybrid - Candidate MUST work 3 days onsite and 2 days remote

MUST HAVES:

  • 5-7 years of experience in assisting with test planning test cases and expected test results for complex business systems under the guidance of QA lead.
  • 5-7 years of experience in executing test cases and scenarios for large complex systems.
  • Proficiency in testing tools (e.g. Jira Bugzilla Microfocus Product Suite).
  • Familiarity with Accessibility testing tools like WAVES JAWS NVDA and Compliance Sheriff.

Description

  • Note: This contract will require the consultant to work from the office location 3 days per week with the remaining 2 days being worked remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Create comprehensive QA test plans test cases and test scenarios to ensure thorough testing coverage.
  • Support QA leads with all aspects of QA testing and reconciliation ensuring effective and timely completion of all required QA/testing activities.
  • Participate in change management processes to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruptions under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Perform detailed execution of test cases and test scenarios according to the test plan.
  • Contribute to functional testing and Accessibility Compliance testing to meet diverse user needs.
  • Prepare test data and perform data testing and reconciliation to verify system accuracy.
  • Adhere to established QA processes best practices and templates to maintain consistency and quality.
  • Responsible for problem identification creating and updating defect reports to track issues and resolutions.
  • Identify gaps in requirements or implementation by performing detailed thorough testing of system changes.
  • Document test results and provide constructive feedback to Ministry staff and stakeholders under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Prepare and send test summaries and daily status reports to keep the team and management informed of progress and issues.
  • Share knowledge with other team members under the guidance of QA lead through knowledge transfer sessions and detailed documentation.
  • Participate in daily stand-up meetings and collaborate closely with the QA team and other project teams to ensure cohesive project execution.
  • Develop deep knowledge of the system to understand the impact of changes and provide valuable insights under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Ensure that all business rules data field specifications and other validations are implemented according to requirements.
  • Confirm the correct application and system flow to maintain a seamless user experience.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Application Development team and other cross functional teams to solve project and customer issues.
  • Ensure adherence to government software development standards including the System Development Life Cycle and Project Management Life Cycle.
  • Complete work and achieve milestones within the assigned deadlines.
  • Notify the Cluster/Ministry project Manager/leads in writing of any issues or other material concerns related to the assignment deliverables as soon as they become aware of them.
  • Submit deliverables for the Cluster/Ministry approval as they are completed. Comply with the
  • Ontario Government and the Cluster/Ministry security procedures and practices.

Evaluation Criteria

QA Skills - 45%

  • 5-7 years of experience in executing testing-related activities and data reconciliation for large complex business-critical systems with support from QA lead.
  • 5-7 years of experience in assisting with test planning test cases and expected test results for complex business systems under the guidance of QA lead.
  • 5-7 years of experience in conducting data analysis cleansing conversion and reconciliation on large complex systems with oversight from Senior team members.
  • 5-7 years of experience in executing test cases and scenarios for large complex systems.
  • Demonstrating excellent coordination and organizational skills to manage QA activities within tight timelines and conflicting priorities.
  • Experience in Accessibility testing aligned with AODA standards.

Technical Skills - 35%

  • Good working knowledge of workflow portfolio management and rule-driven business solutions.
  • Experience with web-based 3-tier software platforms and understanding of their architecture.
  • Proficiency in testing tools (e.g. Jira Bugzilla Microfocus Product Suite).
  • Competent knowledge of Oracle database tools including basic data handling and querying.
  • Proficient in desktop tools (Visio MS Office MS Project MS Outlook).
  • Experience in testing custom implementations and COTS implementations including familiarity with IBM J-Rules Engine.
  • Working knowledge of web-based application development processes and tools.
  • Familiarity with Accessibility testing tools like WAVES JAWS NVDA and Compliance Sheriff.

General skills - 15%

  • Experience in effective coordination with multiple teams representing various business and technology areas.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good analytical problem-solving and decision-making capabilities applying critical thinking to resolve issues.

Public Sector Experience - 5%

  • Some experience in the Public Sector either as a vendor representative or under contract with a government ministry or agency.
