The Role:
The Safety-Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting a safe and efficient working environment by balancing responsibilities of both workplace safety and equipment/facility maintenance. This role splits time equally to ensure compliance with all safety standards and executing and/or coordinating maintenance tasks that keep the facility operational and complaint with food/safety regulations.
Essential Responsibilities Include and Are Not Limited To:
Safety
- Coordinate with the corporate safety director to drive and implement compliance and workplace safety initiatives
- Conduct daily/weekly safety inspections of the facility equipment and work areas
- Lead and document safety committee meetings training sessions safety drills etc. (eg. Fire evacuation chemical spill)
- Develop and maintain site-specific safety programs (LOTO PPE Equipment)
- Investigate accidents incidents near misses other safety concerns and implement corrective actions to reduce future occurrences
- Serve as the point of contact for safety audits and regulatory inspections
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and proactive hazard recognition
- Support management and supervisors in their efforts to establish a proactive safety culture
Maintenance
- Perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs on processing equipment/machinery HVAC forklifts and facility infrastructure
- Respond to equipment malfunctions or utility issues and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime
- Maintain maintenance logs equipment manuals and service records
- Work with production supervisors/managers to schedule non-disruptive maintenance activities & repairs
- Ensure all tools maintenance supplies and work areas are organized and compliant with food safety protocols/GMPs
- Oversee workplace repair installations and any other maintenance functions that could result in harm to employees if not corrected.

Qualifications :
Essential Skills and Requirements:
- At least 1 year(s) of previous building maintenance and facilities experience preferred
- Familiarity with OSHA L&I
- Must be able to safely use a ladder
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Experience in hazard assessment and controls.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before a group of employees.
- Must have reliable transportation
- Ability to work in a wet/cold environment (less than 40F)
- Strong attention to detail accuracy communication skills and recordkeeping ability
- Ability to work without direct supervision and to prioritize activities
- Report all Safety and Quality Issues
- Must be proficient with MS Office programs and able to learn the appropriate programs.
