Job Description

Baggage Handling System Associates are responsible for the manual handling of baggage when required monitoring baggage flow and responding to system faults. This includes operating the Manual Encoding System (MES) clearing jams and reporting recurring issues to the Operations Supervisor and System Operator Controllers. This is an on-site role that requires physical activity and attention to detail in a fast-paced role ison-site in the Calgary Airport. 

Must be able to work rotating shifts; including nights weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Induct baggage onto the system at designated in-feed points in a systematic and timely manner.
  • Respond immediately to jams and clear blockages to maintain the flow of baggage while avoiding system damage.
  • Manually scan bags; revert to keyboard entry if scanning fails and notify the Control Room as needed.
  • Perform physical baggage handling in the event of system failures or shutdowns.
  • Monitor the system for consistent issues and report recurring jams or malfunctions promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area following all safety protocols.

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced airport environment with exposure to noise machinery and variable temperatures.
  • Frequent walking and standing throughout large airport facilities.

Qualifications :

  • Technical Certificate
  • RAIC Security Clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance
  • Ability to comprehend strategy insights and values
  • Ability to perform physical labor including lifting pushing and pulling.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow procedures and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Prior experience in baggage handling or airport operations is an asset but not required.
