Seeking a Molding Process Engineer.
Our client has been a leading source of plastics manufacturing supplying the automotive industry for over 40 years. Through technical research and development coupled with a diverse and knowledgeable Management Team and dedicated Associates our client has continued to grow each provide customers with a wide range of full-service support from black box design concepts to highly engineered composites TPEs and TPOs as well as specialized extrusion and compression technologies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist Program Managers in launching new products by working with Tool Manifold and Secondary Equipment Suppliers to ensure optimum performance.
Sample new molds and materials and provide feedback documentation and recommendations.
Develop process sheets water diagrams and hot runner diagrams for all assigned jobs.
Develop operator instructions for secondary equipment
Optimize new and current processes ensuring efficiency quality and scrap reduction
Responsible for continuous improvement by exploring better ways of doing things (I.e. mistake proofing work cell flow cost cutting etc.)
Write programs for robots and automation equipment. Help develop end of arm tooling.
Set up work cells and workplace layout to maximize efficiency.
Assist Tool Room with problem communication and maintaining PM levels on all tools.
Assist Maintenance with problem communication and maintaining PM levels on all equipment.
Assist Process Techs by taking on all process problems not solved at that level.
In addition responsible for the overseeing of all training on processes robots assembly equipment etc.
Be on call to assist the off shift with any processing problems which may arise.
Demonstrate ability to resolve problems systematically using appropriate problem-solving tools and techniques (I.e. D.O.E. capability studies etc.)
Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
Adherence to all company policies and procedures (i.e. Quality Manual Associate Handbook etc.).
Qualifications:
Plastic injection molding background with 2-3 years experience in plastics processing.
Must have a technical degree or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of standard quality practices and lean manufacturing concepts.
Must be familiar with A3P and mold flow technology.
Computer literate.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
Ability to read tooling prints. Ability to read and write basic procedures and job instructions.
