Job Description

Job Title: Technician Level I

Reports to: Director for Network & Technology Services

Dept.: Technology Services

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Calendar: 226 days

Payscale: CP6

Primary Purpose: Perform administrative duties related to the daily operation of the technology department office. Support of district data systems software applications and hardware. Assist campuses and end-users by providing support to deploy configure and repair technology.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Drivers License
  • Associates Degree preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Basic understanding of desktop and mobile operating systems
  • Experience working with various computer hardware components
  • Experience installing software application packages

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Process damaged devices and coordinate repairs while managing accurate records of work performed materials used and time required
  • Maintain accurate inventory records
  • Identify and suggest possible improvements on deployment and repair processes
  • Deploy and configure computers and peripherals
  • Use effective communication skills to present information timely accurately and clearly
  • Work cooperatively with others to resolve issues
  • Basic troubleshooting of software and equipment
  • Update and resolve work orders in a timely manner
  • Document issues and resolutions within the helpdesk ticketing system
  • Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including utilizing tools lifting climbing and carrying
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education rule and local board policy
  • Follow procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • All duties must be performed on site

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • As assigned by Director for Network & Technology Services

Tools/Equipment Used:

  • Ladders hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs; personal computers and peripherals; cars or trucks that do not exceed 26000 lbs. Reliable personal vehicle needed for work-related travel between district facilities.

Posture:

  • Prolonged sitting and standing; regular kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting.

Motion:

  • Repetitive hand motion; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular walking grasping/squeezing wrist flexion/extension reaching; climbing ladders.

Lifting:

  • Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 44 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds and over).

Environment:

  • Exposure to electrical hazards; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent district-wide travel; May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day.

Mental Demands:

  • Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
