Description

Center for Human Services (CHS) is seeking an Accounting Specialist - General Ledger for our Modesto office Monday through Friday. This is a full-time non-exempt position.

POSITION SUMMARY:Perform specialized financial analysis and tasks including develop interpret and implement financial concepts for internal control

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. BS/BA in accounting or may consider equivalent work experience.
  2. 3-5 years experience and expertise in computerized fiscal operations.
  3. Experience in Office 365 (Excel Word & PowerPoint) required.
  4. Abila (Sage) Accounting Software and Paycom (HRIS) experience highly desirable.
  5. Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills and strong multi-tasking capabilities.
  6. Knowledge and understanding of accounting theory and procedures payroll processing experience general fiscal procedures in accounts receivable and accounts payable budget preparation and analysis.
  7. Ability to compile financial reports.
  8. Pass agency paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints.
  9. Pass agency paid TB (Tuberculosis) screening.
  10. Pass agency paid health screening and/or drug testing if required.
  11. Valid California Drivers License and proof of auto insurance coverage preferred.
  12. Pass agency paid MVR clearance with no more than 2 points if you are under the age of 25 our insurance company will not allow any points.

DUTIES:

  1. Provide full range of financial support to Accounting Director.
  2. Perform and support monthly financial close and reporting accounting close departmental payroll annual budget quarterly forecasts and periodic financial updates.
  3. Prepare and record month-end general ledger closing entries including payroll allocations depreciation etc.
  4. Coordinate preparation of monthly financial statements for each funding source and total agency.
  5. Maintain fixed asset reconciliations and schedules.
  6. Complete monthly bank reconciliations on agencys accounts.
  7. Coordinate cost allocations with Accounting Director.
  8. Maintain account reconciliations for other balance sheet accounts as appropriate.
  9. Responsible for quarterly reporting of sales tax and employment data
  10. Represent Accounting Director in meetings in his/her absence as directed.
  11. Frequent interaction with all levels of management.
  12. Assist auditors with audits and financial data requests.
  13. Support cross training of Finance department staff
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

  5. Maintain confidentiality and confidential information in accordance with legal standards and/or agency regulations.
  6. Participate in assigned scheduled agency meetings in-service trainings conferences and other training as determined by the supervisor. This includes serving as an agency representative at assigned community meetings
  7. Observance of assigned working hours and program appointments by demonstrating promptness and thorough preparation.
  8. Performance of assigned duties with a positive attitude and in the spirit of teamwork collaboration and cooperation.
  9. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  10. Perform job duties in a safe manner to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
  11. Participates in and/or supports agency fund development activities and events.
  12. Preparation of assigned reports work records statistical data job performance evaluations work plans etc. in a timely manner.
