Position Description:
The Software/Project Specialist provides technical and operational support for the deployment maintenance and troubleshooting of district software and technology projects. This role ensures that software tools and systems used for instruction assessment and business operations are functioning correctly and efficiently. The specialist works closely with all departments to support day-to-day software needs special projects and ongoing system improvements. The position can require extended or on-call work hours to ensure the learning environment is always functional.

Scope of Responsibility:
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for software applications used across the district including instructional administrative and testing platforms.
- Works under the direct supervision of and closely with the Software and Projects Coordinator to ensure the needs of the department are met.
- Troubleshoot software-related issues and coordinate escalation to appropriate technical teams or vendors.
- Assist with software installations updates and configurations on endpoint devices.
- Support the deployment and testing of new software tools and applications in collaboration with project teams.
- Maintain documentation of software systems support procedures known issues and resolution steps.
- Ensure new software requests are reviewed for compatibility licensing and security compliance.
- Assist with the setup and support of devices and software used for online testing and district assessments.
- Participate in pilot programs or testing for new software applications.
- Collaborate with schools and departments to ensure successful software rollouts.
- Support technology projects and special initiatives with logistics inventory and on-site assistance as needed.
- Assist in training staff on basic software usage and troubleshooting.
- Work with the Software Project Coordinator to monitor the performance of deployed applications and recommend improvements.
- Help maintain software inventory and ensure proper deployment records.
- Provide regular updates and status reports to the Software Project Coordinator and Executive Director of Technology.
- Support Special Projects/Events as assigned by the Software Project Coordinator & Executive Director of Technology.
- Responsible for carrying and answering district-issued phone before during and after normal work hours due to emergencies or extenuating circumstances.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Technology.
Skills and Qualifications:

- A bachelors degree is preferred in Computer Science or a computer-related field or the equivalent coursework or technical experience.
- High school graduate or GED required.
- 24 years of experience in IT support help desk or technical software support.
- Working knowledge of IP Addressing and Subnets.
- A certification or equivalent preferred.
- Microsoft Certification preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated ability to produce reports for management.
- Good verbal and written communications skills.
- Knowledge of computer hardware software and networking infrastructure.
- Documented experience with the following operating systems: Windows Mac OS iOS.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to clearly document support cases and maintain organized records.
- Strong customer service orientation and collaborative work style.
- Experience using ticketing systems and remote support tools.
- Motivated dependable self-starter with the drive and initiative to complete assignments and projects.
- High degree of professionalism with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities while consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined thinking.
Desirable Qualifications:
- A Certification or equivalent technical certification preferred.
- Experience with Google Workspace for Education.
- Exposure to management tools such as Jamf Microsoft Intune or Apple School Manager.
- Experience supporting software in a K12 environment.
- Working knowledge of student testing platforms and related technologies.
Physical Involvement:
Standing walking reaching bending and lifting up to seventy-five pounds is sometimes required. Ability to provide own transportation to schools work locations and meeting sites. Must possess mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work areas.
