Job Description
Occupational Summary:
Direct operational and personnel activities involved in establishing promoting and maintaining the safety and security of all students faculty and staff on campus and the Provincial House personnel including the protection of property located within the boundaries of the total campus. Some evenings and weekends are required for special events.

This position is responsible for cultivating and maintaining the institutions Catholic identity and its mission to empower graduates to transform society. As a member of the Newman community the staff member will join with the institutions sponsors the Adorers of the Blood of Christ (ASC Sisters) to witness Gods love in Mission to empower others foster oneness celebrate life form right relationships and walk as compassionate companions. Additionally this position contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of respect for and development of skills to engage with those of other faiths cultures or backgrounds.
Work Performed:
- Establish operational procedures in all areas of security including but not limited to: crime prevention and reporting parking regulations and enforcement alcohol and substance abuse building access including residence halls and fire prevention.
- Confer with administrators to formulate policies determine the need for programs and coordinate programs related to safety.
- Communicate with the University and ASC management personnel concerning security concerns.
- Conduct seminars lectures campus messages training and in-service sessions on various aspects of safety with students faculty staff and ASC personnel as requested.
- Effectively coordinate with the Wichita Police Department in patrolling the total campus investigating crime notifying of local crime activities and vehicle owner identification.
- Perform duties as daytime security officer.
- Schedule and supervise subcontracted security personnel to handle night and weekend assignments.
- Encourage train and supervise a student security cadet program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience as a police officer security officer or investigator required.
- Firearms training required and met current licensing requirements.
- Proficiency in word-processing and spreadsheet software is preferred.
- Must possess a valid drivers license and pass a motor vehicle check.
- Must have physical fitness and stamina: stand walk and/or run for extensive periods. Must be able to talk or hear.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students faculty managers students parents or the general public.
- Ability to define problems collect data and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner is required.
- College degree preferred.
- Two (2) years of supervision and scheduling experience preferred.
